Here I am....  I'm from dominican Republic, 8 years married to a wonderful man, two kids Angel 6 and Moira 2 year old.  And one of these days we're gonna marry by church, it will be a small ceremony, but who says I can't take ideas from all the big weddings you have.

    Besitos,

I've always wondered if there was any international readers.

Both my fiance and I are Scottish and we're getting married here but I love the variety of ideas here. The UK websites aren't anywhere near as good as many of the US sites. Some of the ideas aren't really transferable but it's great eye candy!

I'm Canadian, but I don't know if that is really considered to be "international" by people from the states. :)

It's lovely to have such a diverse community here on WB!  I'm in Hong Kong until early January, so I'm "international" at least until then, right?!  ;-)

I'm an American living in Germany, marrying my German fiance in the US, we are having a long engagement due to the issues of planning and financing such a wedding and in the hopes of making it easier for the Germans to plan their travel so I've been on Weddingbee for a while and I'll be sticking around until at least Fall 2010! IT's great to see other International readers!

ArmyWife, where in Germany are you? I live in Mannheim and know there's a lot of Army nearby.

Me too-- I'm an American living in the UK (Nottingham) with my British fiance (we met here last year).  Our wedding will be in Maryland in October 2009.  Look me up if you ever make it to Notts!

    MsDodi    06/19/2010   Oklahoma City

I'm an American reader, in the US, but my fiance is British, still in the UK, and we haven't decided where we're having our wedding yet!! It's early in the planning stages, but I'm finding so many great ideas here on WeddingBee.

Any advice out there on which would be the better place to have our wedding? US or UK? I've been married before, but we just did the JP thing, no real wedding. My fiance and I want to do it right, but we have a miniscule budget. I'm thinking it might be cheaper here, but as he's never been married before, it's really important that his family and friends are there. Neither group could really afford to fly to each other's country, so it's his family or mine. Suggestions appreciated!!

MsDodi in my opinion weddings are cheaper in the US. My fiance and I are british but are getting married in Miami next April, we are having a family celebration when we return to England and that is costing almost as much as our actual wedding. I am finding that vendors in the US are more flexible which allows you to be creative with your budget, whereas in the UK there are so many restrictions and minimum charges at venues it gets expensive very quickly.

If you do decide to get married in the UK and need any info or help, just get in touch... I love all things wedding related!

Message to jhphi, MsUsUk, jinx, Kakita and all those other UK residents, maybe we should arrange to meet up, somewhere in the middle!

ROFL, I'm so dreading the left-hand driving!! But my lovely fiance is a cabbie, so maybe that won't be so much of a problem... "Honey... can you take me to the....?"

Hanmay, what a great idea!  I've actually met jhphi because I used to live in Nottingham and it was good times.

I've completed all the planning for our wedding and have tons of advice.  Planning a wedding in the UK is more expensive and can be a little bit restrictive, but the key is to not care about what they think is "right" and "traditional"  and insist on getting what you want.  Plus if you don't ask, you don't know.  I'm planning a budget wedding and so far everything has been relatively easy.

I'm American, living in Ireland, engaged to an Irish guy.  I carry an Irish passport as well as an American passport because my dad was born in Ireland.  We're getting married in Connecticut and having a Mass to bless our marriage followed by a reception two weeks after the US wedding.  LOTS to plan!

I somehow missed this thread, too...  I'm an American marrying a Frenchman.  We met in Paris, have lived in here for 9 years and will be marrying here.  So, my family and friends will be traveling to the wedding.  I think a decent amount of people are still coming from my side though, my mom thinks around 35.  So considering we are trying to keep it to 120 people max, that's not bad a ratio!  We opted not to have a second reception in the US.  Mostly for cost, but also because we figure the most important will come, and those who can't make it we can see next time we're home for dinner or a casual bbq type thing.
