Hmm...registry-wise, I know that Target accepts credit cards from Canada..I'm not sure of any other places that would.
They have bed bath and beyond in both the Canada and the United States, so you should be fine with that. You could register on both sites though to cover your bases.
As for the checks, your bank will cash them, but they will either put a hold on the entire amount for so many days; length of time depends on the bank, or they may release the first $100.00 of the check; also depends on the bank, or depending on your banking relationship, they may release all of the funds to you right away.
When my grandmother sends money from Canada to the US, she sends a money order that is written in US funds, so the funds are released right away.
Your US bank should be able to cash the cheques. We were in the same situation, and it only took a couple of days for them to go through.
I am registered from Bed Bath & Beyond and I have people coming from Canada, UK and France. I was un aware of people having trouble purchasign gifts from there if they do not have an american credit card. A credit card is a credit card... they cannot use a debit card unless it has a VISA or MC logo on it. As long as the address where the package is going to is in the States there should not be any problem.
A credit card is a credit card, adn they will work from Canada to the US...as will anywhere in the world that accepts VIsa or MC??? I have ordered goods from New Zealand, Australia, England, the US online with zero issues. Not sure why your guests would have any trouble?
If there IS an issue with Bed, Bath and Beyond, call the store where you registered and give them a piece of your mind. That's garbage really.
No - this is correct. I am also having the same issue. BBB doesn't let you enter an internation billing address. Sure you can enter the CC but its tied to a billing address and the only country they let you enter is the US.
See this link for ways around. I also registered at Crate&Barrel and they do accept international orders.

Hi Bees,
We have a bit of a unique situation because I'm a Canadian, my fiance is American, and we are having the wedding in the US. About half of our guests will be traveling from Canada for the wedding.
We've only registered at one place so far (Bed, Bath and Beyond). But I just realized that Candian's can't order gifts online because they only accept US Credit cards! Should we also register somewhere else that will take Canadian credit cards? Ideally we're hoping people just give us cash as gifts, so we kind of only wanted to register at one store to send the message that cash is preferred :)
Also, if we get Canadian checks, can we cash them in our US bank account? I do have a Canadian bank account that we could use, but it is in my maiden name, and I'm not sure if that will be a problem if the check is made out to my married name.
Anyone have any advice?
Thanks!
