There are numerous internet companies that make designer inspired gowns at very afforable prices.  Of course, it's tempting but many of the companies seem sketchy. If you have any experience (good or bad) with them, please share.  Thanks!

Unfortunately, my experience was the opposite. I also purchased from Gioavonni's and the dress is hideous and requires significant work to make it wearable. I think certain dresses are hard to relicate on the cheap, especially if there is significant lace involved. I run a private animal sanctuary and money is a real concern for me since I am paying for the wedding myself. So I tried to get a replica of a gown I really loved and got my heart broken in return. Look for sales, look for similar gowns at a lower price. I would also take a look at who is posting what. Some of the people posting on wedding boards are obviously involved with the company in question since that is ALL they post about. All you need to do is click on their name and you will see what I mean.

My friend ordered her gown from littlecoral.com and she was very happy!  I have not seen the gown yet, since her wedding hasn't happened yet.  She said that she chose a designer gown off the site and they replicated it based on her measurements.  She said it looks a lot if not exactly like the designer gown and she really loves it.

my friend got her dress made from this place: www.chicgown.com

The experience was simliar to urpleasuremtreasure, took about 2-3 months to complete and the wait was agonizing. But everything worked out great. The price was 1/3rd of the actual designer dress charges so it was something that she was able to afford

Just make sure you do your research before placing your order, i'm sure there are a few sketchy ones out there that you have to be careful of.

The chicgown site looks really interesting. It's too late to for me to order another gown and I couldn't afford it anyway; wish I knew about them earlier.

a wedding dress is a big deal and having it customized from an online company just scares me! ive seen a few bad experiences with buying a wedding gown and bridesmaids gowns offline from companies and one of my girlfriends was in tears with her customized and it was right before her wedding and she ended up buying off the rack and paying a fortune with alterations.

you can find a credible seamstress that can work with you every step of the way with fabrics, designs, measurements, etc and to me it just is better to work with someone in person. i mean, what if something looks different when its an actual finished dress and not an idea? also, if you want to spend a little money, you can work with the actualy designer and they can either modify or customize you a dress...that way, youre going right to the source!

another thing is ive learned the hard way that things online can look a lot different in person. just be super careful and really research the company and try to get credible reviews. this is your wedding gown after all and a big invesment financially.

if you do it online, just be really careful and give yourself plenty of time after it arrives before the wedding day just in case you need a backup!

    good luck!
