@otto2008:

I’m not sure what you mean. DH is white, I am bi racial (black and white) but I’m not really sure what you mean by ideas, my wedding was no different than a couples of the same race.

If you elaborate, I’ll be happy to help if I can.

I’m black and DH is white. Our wedding was pretty standard. What specifically are you wanting to see?

Do you have different cultures you’re trying to blend together?  I’m (white) American and he’s Japanese. We’re having an American style ceremony and reception in Hawaii (because it’s halfway between both families). His mom is still trying to decide if it’ll be too hot for her to wear a kimono or not, and we have a bilingual minister, but other than that it’ll be pretty standard American style.

@otto2008:  what races are you? Maybe that’ll help. Our wedding was completely traditional, nothing from his or my race or cultures were added.

@otto2008:  I think googling Russian and African American wedding traditions would be a good place to start. Ask your FI if there’s something specific she wants. For the African American traditions, you could ask your mom? Make a list of both and see what things look like they might work well together.
