I think that’s fine. I read a report awhile ago that women are taken more seriously in a skirt than slacks, so you may want to consider that (although obviously the skirt has to be work-length). I’d skip the jacket.

What’s the job for? That would change myopinion but I do think you should always dress one notch better than the interviewer.

Business casual should be fine since they will probably be weird scrubs.

I hate that women have to wear skirts to be taken seriously, it’s so misogynistic.

@ThreeMeers:  I’m the same way. I never wear anything less than a suit to an interview, although yeah, one notch up from the interviewer. But being that everyone else wears scrubs…you could probably get away with nice pants or a skirt, heels, and a nice shirt/cardigan.

That’s strange, I would’ve thought women wearing slacks would be taken more seriously.  I agree that a skirt might be a nice way to go though; definitely in terms of comfort.

@elysion: The study was of actual outcome, not people’s reported perceptions. It was all unconscious that women were judged as more serious in a skirt.

I read that the colors you wear influence how people see you. Red was aggressive and dominant, blue was trustworthy and loyal…I actually don’t remember other colors. I know black was a nice strong color and was preferred over grey or brown as far as neutrals went.
