So a week ago I had an in person interview for a management position. It went really well, and I was tld he would be scheduling a followup phone interview as a final step that night. I got home from the interview and fired off a thank you email.
I didn’t hear back that night about scheduling the phone interview, but I did finally hear the next afternoon. He wnted to schedule for 5:30pm. I said that was fine. 5:15pm came, and he emailed me again saying he had to reschedule for the next morning. That’s fine and I get that shit happens-no problem.
So Thursday morning we had another phone interview. He warned me it would be short…the whole thing took 14-25 minutes. He asked a few scenerio questions, as well as about compensation and when I could start. He said he would be contacting all of the candidates either way by Friday end of day.
I was off Friday and I sent way too much time waiting for a call that never came. I got another email saying he was a little behind and would be in touch with everyone on Monday.
Well now it’s Tuesday and I still haven’t heard anything. Normally I would just accept that I didn’t get the job, but it bothers me a little that he said he would be contacting everyone. Given that the deadline has been pushed back once already I’m wondering if maybe he just hasn’t made a decision. So, I guess my question is should I follow up?
I know there’s a fine line betweeen seeming like a go getter and just plain being annoying. If I do followup should it be email or a phone call?
