My fiancé and I are thinking about having an “I Do” ceremony in a garden (for close family and friends) and instead of having a reception, I would serve light hor’dourves and a variety of desserts while we are taking pictures.
What are your thoughts? Also how should I word the invitations?

That sounds like a reception to me 🙂 Just a small, low-key one which sounds lovely. I’d just say ceremony at time X followed immediately by dessert reception, so people aren’t expecting a meal. I would probably do the pictures after the reception (assuming it’s in the daytime), so you can spend more time with your guests and then have the rest of the day to yourselves.

We are doing a very small wedding for close friends and family- total of about 14 people. We are then “just” going to dinner. I am so happy about this, as it will be very intimate.
I think as long as you don’t expect people to eat “just” light hors d’s during a dinnertine hour, you’re fine. I would say that you should say it just as it is on the invites, so people will not expect a meal.

I think that is a great idea (my FI and I are doing something very similar to this)! As for the invitations? I would say something along the lines of a desert reception? Whatever you decide, I am sure will work out perfectly. Congrats!!
