I’ve been to the Excellence and it was amazing. The food was great, the service excellent. We can’t wait to go back. We have a roof top suite and it was beautiful. Room service 24/7 was so nice too. It had a lazy river that we enjoyed just floating on.

It seemed to have everything in your wish list. 🙂

Have you thought about Secrets Maroma Beach in Playa del Carmen?  My husband and I got married there and everything was PERFECT!!! I would not have changed a thing!  I went down your list of wants and they have EVERYTHING!  It was just perfect…also did you know they have the top beach on the Carribean?  Look into it, you will not regreat it!

I’m getting married at Secrets Maroma in October and I can’t wait!! It took me weeks to decide on Secrets! They have everything you are looking for, great reviews AND it is adults only! In addition to that, the wedding coordinator is very responsive and always gets back to you within a day or two (that was a big plus for me)! Excellence was my #2 choice.

If it’s just the two of you $8k is more than enough!

After months and months of planning a wedding in Michigan, I looked at my fiancé and said “I am done dealing with all this stress.” A girl that I worked with had just come back from having a destination wedding and brought in all her photos. After looking through her photos, I knew I wanted to do a destination wedding. The girl I worked with recommended DestinationWeddings.com, specifically Kathy Murray. After calling and talking with Kathy, she was able to recommend a few wedding venues for us in Mexico that would be within our budget. When I first got engaged I had put together a list of people and an estimated cost for our wedding. The list was around 350 people and our wedding was going to cost $60,000. This was way outside our budget. After talking with Kathy I was able to learn that a destination wedding typically costs anywhere from $3,000-$10,000. That struck my interest.

Three weeks before our wedding in Riviera Maya, I was watching the news and saw that the resort that we were going to have our wedding at had a natural gas explosion. I immediately panicked, since it showed that the resort was going to be shut down. I called Kathy and she was able to transfer all of our guests over to a FIVE STAR hotel called Azul Fives. This is a family friendly resort that has an amazing kids venue right at the resort as well. I was upset and nervous at first since I had never been to that resort, but put my trust in Kathy’s expertise. I am so glad we did because of the fact that the resort was an amazing experience. It was a much nicer resort than we had originally planned to get married at and the resort was able to transfer over the same rates as the first resort. We were treated like royalty, which made the entire experience a memorable one. The food, the people, the atmosphere are perfect for an intimate wedding.

Also, we ended up having our honeymoon at the Valentin Imperial Maya and this resort is HUGE. I wouldn’t recommend for a wedding because no one would ever be anle to find anyone. The resort was nice, but if you want a 5 star wedding, check out Azul Fives.

I had my wedding at the Azul Beach Hotel and went to the Excellence Playa Mujeres. Both resorts are AMAZING! I did everything through destinationweddings.com. I know you want an intimate wedding, but have you thought of using a service? I was going to do it all myself, and probably could have (we had 30 people there not counting myself, my husband and my step-daughter), but having someone else coordinate all the travel and stuff was an amazing stress reliever for me. The only reason I didn’t have my wedding at Excellence was because my step-daughter is 12 and it is adults only. I have some great pictures of the wedding chapel at Excellence if you want to see. It really is amazing, and I highly recommend destinationweddings.com. PM me if you’d like.
