Since this is what you do, this is going to be what you are most picky about.  I think everyone has the “This is the one detail that I’m going nuts over” moment.  A lot of friends of mine play music for weddings and LABORED over picking music for their wedding.  It took them months because they didn’t want the song that was at everyone’s wedding.  I bet you are having a similar moment because you don’t want your paper products to look like everyone else’s.

Why you probably won’t be able to stop, everyone who recieves them will likely complement them because they will be awesome.

And I am sure there will be easy parts for you that other people stress over.

This is exactly why I hired someone else to make my wedding video even though I edit videos for a living.  I just wanted to pay someone else to deal with it so I didn’t have to!

@hellomamabird:

I’m a graphic designer who has designed my fair share of invitation suites for others, but when it comes to my own, I’m at a complete loss!!!

I’m having the exact same problem planning my wedding.  I work in decor & logistics for events and weddings and I am useless to my own wedding in this department.  The clock is ticking and I have zero decor plans, no tablecloths, flowers, chairs, furniture, not even just a color scheme.  All that I was able to do is create the floorplans. I am definitely going to have to ask an associate to design the thing for me.

I thought that this would be a breeze because of what I do for a living.  But it’s actually the opposite.

I’m glad you posted this, I feel better about my own paralysis now and I’m thinking this is probably a common affliction.

@hellomamabird:  it is definitely a lot harder when you’re a designer!  the expectations are so much higher – especially from yourself.  I’m dealing with that myself right now.

@hellomamabird:  I’m a designer, too! I’ve been playing around with invite ideas since the beginning, and I have probably created about 6 different versions because I keep thinking I can do better.

Today, one of my engaged friends asked me to see what I could come up with for a design for theirs and showed me an inspiration picture. I had something she LOVED in less than an hour. -_- It’s so much easier doing it for other people!

I just feel so much pressure. Like, “oh, she’s a graphic designer, her invites will be awesome.” What if they’re not what everyone is expecting? Blahhhhhh. But I feel you, girl. I feel you.

@hellomamabird:  I had a really hard time choosing my save the dates as well, and know this is only the beginning! I usually am NOT an indecisive person, but something about wedding planning, and wanting everything to be how you imagine and perfect just adds a lot of stress!

This may be a dumb question but would it be easier for you to choose something that you don’t create? That might relieve some pressure!
