Good luck! Thanks for the laugh. I'm wondering who they thought you said originally? Alice? Alex? Alana?
Welcome to weddingbee! I don't have any advice to make that stuff more fun but I'm sure you can figure out a way to make it work! I would try and get a venue set up soon because that is going to determine how many people you can actually invite or afford to invite food wise.
"If one guest has an MD, and his partner has a Ph.D. are they "Doctor and Dr. Allen?"
I believe you would put Doctors Jane and John Smith. This website has a nice list of how to address envelopes.
Just posted about my rehearsal dinner "theme" ideas....decided it was the only way to motivate me to work on it :) Doing for everyone, out of towners, or just wedding party?
Get FI to help with the hard parts! That helped me a lot.
We're just going to have the extended family at the Rehearsal dinner: Our parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins. This brings me to another concern I have: his mother is paying for the rehearsal dinner, but I have a much larger extended family... is this a faux pas?

This site was a LIFESAVER to me for addressing our 175 invitations! Also a good tip: take a notecard, draw evenly space lines on it with a sharpie (1/4-1/2 inch), and when you are ready to address the invites place the card inside the envelope. The sharpie lines should show through and allow you to address with ease!

Hey everyone, I'm new here to Wedding Bee... but better late than never, right? So I'm getting married in 5.5 months, and I'm trying not to panic. We've already been engaged for 8months (today! wahoo?) and have gotten lots and lots done. But, I've started to notice that so far we've only accomplished the fun stuff. Wedding Dress? Check. Cute Farm Venue? Check. Food and Cake? Check and Check.... after checking off all the things we have accomplished on our to-do list, all that remains is the grunt work.
So, because I am stressed and need to vent, here in it's glory is the list of un-fun tasks I have yet to accomplish.
2. Rehearsal Dinner related tasks
Me: Hi, may I speak with Alan please?
Employee: Who?
Me: Alan.
Employee: She's not coming back until April.
Me:Alan? A- L- A- N? Alan's not coming back until April?
Employee: Oh sorry. No. We don't have anyone named Alan who works here.
Me: not even a supervisor, or a manager?
Employee: Maybe you mean Al. He won't be in until Tuesday.

!!!! I nearly lost my mind!!!! Anyway, it occurs to me that maybe I just have a bad attitude. Now that I have secured all the fun, exciting details for the wedding, my heart is just not into these more menial/trying tasks.
Anyone have advice for how to make guest list pruning and rehearsal dinner coercion more fun!? I'm all ears...
