That's such a great idea! I used to have those when I was little.
Thanks! I've been trying to figure out what I'm going to do. I think this just solved my problem! THANKS!
So glad I could help a few people with this! I was so relieved when I figured out it would work, so I figured I should pass it on. I've learned so many helpful things from the Bee. =)
Sweet! And easier to find than the blacklight pen. I'll definitely go this route. Great idea, thanks for sharing :)
Ok, I'm curious- what's the invisible number for? Sounds very "secret agent!" =D
Smart girl! Far easier than the invisible ink!
@Ambrocked: In case you get an RSVP without a name on it (it will happen). You number your guest list in Excel, then write the number for each corresponding name/invite on the back of your RSVP card in invisible (or colour changing) ink. Then when you get said RSVP back without a name you can track it to the Excel sheet and figure out who it's from!
Ok, that's freaking BRILLIANT!! Wow! I never would've thought about that! Thanks for saving me the future headache!! =)
Yup - we've already got an RSVP back with no name, I'm glad I did it. I used a 'secret message' pen set :)
I painstakingly wrote numbers on every one of my RSVP cards, but we ended up getting them all back with names on them. I'm still glad I did it, because it saved a headache, but I was surprised to be the exception!
I love this idea. And then it can go in my ring bearer's gift basket and he'll love me even more :-) Win-Win!
@NDBee: love it! that's a great idea. I'm a teacher, so I'm sure my kids will get use out of them when I'm finished, as we have no kids in the wedding party. =)
Love this so much more than the blacklight idea!! We can give the markers to his nephews/RBs after the wedding :)
ETA: NDBee - I love that we have the same train of thought!
This is such a great idea! I looked on the Crayola website but there are like 20 different kinds of markers. What is the name of the pack that this marker comes in?
What a wonderful idea! I'm definitely going to do this. Thank you :-)
Great idea!! Thanks for sharing!!
@almostmrs-oka: I believe it's this set... http://www.amazon.com/Crayola-58-8170-Color-Switchers/dp/B001QKLPQQ
This is an amazing idea!! Thank you so much for the tip and explaining it!!
So freaking smart! I was just at Michael's on Friday looking for one of those pens, and I'm so happy that I don't need to order one online now!
People actually send back Rsvp's with NO NAME? What do they put on the rsvp when they send it back? It's just blank? I'm confused.
@jenroh1984: Yeah, they forget to write their name and just check yes or no (or in one of the OP's examples, they wrote initials).
@jenroh1984: Oh yeah, I've had to use it for at least three of them so far. Mine have all been for the no's, so maybe they thougth they're not coming so they don't need to fill it out, but how am I supposed to know who's not coming!? It's been handy to have that number on there, for sure! =)
Wow what a great idea! My fam is really absentminded, so I'm sure it will happen a lot when we get our RSVPs. This will save a huge headache!
Brilliant! Any tips on making sure that the correct number gets w/ the correct envelope? (I am doing pocket folders inside an outer envelope)
@kryje003: I'm probably going to number them as I'm stuffing, so there is as little room for error as possible!
@kryje003: I numbered the guest list first, then, since we used wrap-around labels on our envelopes, I matched the envelope to the number, and numbered the RSVP cards as I went along. It might not have been the fastest way to do it, but it kept things organized.
Just came across this idea. Better that spending money on a invisible ink pen. I can buy some crayola markers and my nephew can play with them later (when I'm done withj RSVP's).
Another solution to the mystery guests issue is what we did: pre-address and return address the RSVP cards. I printed labels for them- one for the address (my house), and a return address (each guest), so when it comes in the mail, I can see who it's from. :) If you're not someone who minds the clear labels, then it was very easy!
What a great idea. It's harder than I thought to find the invisible ink black light pens. Plus the Crayola Color Switchers markers are less expensive.

I just wanted to give a general PSA for those of you looking for invisible ink pens/blacklight pens to use on your RSVP cards. I read about the idea of using invisible ink on the Bee and when it came time to address our invites, I couldn't find a blacklight pen anywhere, and didn't have time to order one, so I came up with an alternative.
Crayola makes color changing markers, they have two ends to each marker, one is a normal color, and the other end is clear/color changing. Use the clear end only and write on the back of the RSVP card, then, if you need to see it later, color over the spot with the colored end of the marker, and it shows up perfectly!
I also made sure to put my number in one consistent corner of the RSVP, since I couldn't see what I was writing, it made it easy to know where the number was later on.
Anyway, hope this helps some of you! =D
