It's your wedding gift and she wanted you to pay an extra $25/hr on top of the materials you bought? That's not very cool.
As for knowing where to finish a design...I'm not sure. Have you tried Craig's List (to find another low cost designer)?
If you have pictures I'm a sure a lot of us would be able to come up with some ideas for you!
Whoa, she didn't know how much time it would take her and she does this for a living?! Poor sport and bad friend, IMO.
Anyways, I'd write out an alchemy request on Etsy and see if anyone there would do a digital design only, no print. I used to do digital designs only for invites so if you need any help PM me! Honestly, if it's not too hard, I could probably do it pretty fast for fairly cheap (My digital designs were around $30, if that gives you some sort of price estimate... they were just templates though, major customization brought them up around $50 but even that is pretty cheap for custom invites).
Good luck!
Thanks for those ideas ladies, Im going to look into those ideas! Ive been so upset about the whole thing and was crying all of last night =(. Not about the invites, but feeling really betrayed from a lifelong friend. Im always extremely generous with my friends and its really hurtful when a good friend does something like this. Not to mention I waited 2 month for her to clear up her schedule to start them! Im also so busy with my thesis and work and recovering from a illness which ive mentioned several times. All of this she knows and completely just left me with all of this stress. I dont have any pictures of the invite at this point. She is willing to give them to me, but I have not asked yet because I need to calm down first. I dont want any drama with her its not worth it to me.
Do you know what program she used? I might be able to help in some way depending on how much more needs to be finished on the invites.
I'd recommend bumping this thread again once you get pictures on here so we can see how far she has gone with them. Other wise it's hard to give advice. It might be something that you can just do on your own with some help from the hive

Ok, So my really good friend since 3rd grade(and bridesmaid) is a graphic designer and was going to design our wedding invitations as a wedding gift. I was SOOO excited about it. Of couse I was going to cover the cost of printing and all materials. Anyways after she partially finished the design for the front of the invite she decided it was taking too much time and was going to have to charge us $25 per hour for everything. Of course we did not budget that much for invites so we had to tell her to just give us what she has and we will figure out how to complete them. Now we have only a partially finished cover and no idea how to finish the rest of them. (Not to mention that its our wedding gift from her!) My question is does anyone know where to go to finish the design with out a huge cost? We just did not budget a huge amount for wedding invites. Im so sad about the whole situation =(. Any advice would be helpful. Thanks!
