Okay you smart, crafty, blingalicious bees! I need your help!
As I'm sure ya'll know, I'm having a beach wedding. So our colors are khaki, pink (raspberry) and white. And we're using a sanddollar to tie it together (somehow)... I want a casual kind of savannah, ga type of feel, sorta countryish- like using the huge lemonade ball jars (2 and 4 gal) for a little lemonade "stand" for people to have lemonade or suntea before the ceremony and using ball jars for the centerpieces of the cocktail hour tables that are poolside.
My invitation is kind of BLEH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Below is the first mockup... We are using a different more saturated pink, but not flourescent fushia. So lighter khaki and darker pink. Below is also the custom stamp we ordered. How do I incorporate this into my invites? How do I make them POP??? How do I emit "shock and awe" and excitement when a khaki canvas textured pocketfolder comes out of the white envelope? We're not blingy, we're just casual relaxed people. So rinestone thingies are out... I thought about tieing sanddollars to the outside of the pocketfolder, but that makes them too bulky and I don't know how well they will hold up with USPS, not to mention ^ in mailing rates.
Please help! I've got wedding brain and I just started back to school and my neuro class has sucked the creative life out of me! Anyone have any ideas? This is what I think I am going to order (I had to cancel my first order b/c misspelling, thank God I caught it before they printed it!) I like the right justified because it is unexpected and a little un-traditional.

Your wedding sounds really pretty. I love your colors and the lemondade idea. Could you put a pink stamp of the sand dollar on the right side of the invitation, or on the right on the kahki pocket fold, or maybe to seal the pocket fold?

    I think it looks great.

Oh I forgot to mention the stamp is the rubber kind that I have to ink... I did that so if I wanted to emboss, I could.

I thought about using grosgrain ribbon to tie around the invitation and to kind of "sew" it to a square label with a sanddollar on it, or use that label as the "who's invited" label... But I'm not sure I've even seen it done. I love the idea of stitched looking paper... just I don't quite know how to sew!

have you considered switching the color scheme?

i am sure you are using the pink as more of an accent to the khaki, but why not have pink invite with the tan or natural colored text?

you keep the simpleness of your design while adding a significant "wow" factor.

i think embossing would be cool too, just time consuming, but if you've got the time, then have at it!

I like the idea of incorporating the sand dollar in your invitations.  Have you considered using a sand dollar charm, perhaps tied with a ribbon or raffia to the invitation?

I recommend this seller on eBay; I've gotten brass charms for favors from her - they're cute for throwaway items and a bargain:

Thanks for the advice so far guys!

DO I have to put the address of the ceremony & reception on there, or just the name and city since I'm including a directions/map insert?

    Any more ideas ya'll?? ;)

I think the colors and invitation look really pretty. To jazz it up, you might try changing the color of the font - you could have the names in pink, for example, to match. You could also add a monogram or design (ie, sand dollar) to the top, above all the text. And a ribbon tied around the whole thing or in one of the folds. I just ordered my invites from www.stephita.com. Take a look at their website for more ideas. Hope that helps!

Maybe you could take your stamp of the sand dollar, stamp it on hot pink paper, cut it out, and then use it as a charm.  You could tie it with hemp, to keep the coastal, beachy feel.

Alternatively, did you say you could make the stamp an embosser?  You could do the same effect with that.
