Haha, I think responsible adults can be trusted to keep track of two pieces of paper without losing one. If you like the asthetic of adding a ribbon or a clip, go for it, but it's definitely not necessary.
I think you will be just fine. I posponed my wedding and so my firt invites went to waste. After that I told myself I would not spend alot again.
I am having a invitation, response card and response envelope without a pocket fold and in one envelope as well.
My DD and you are date twins !!
They are going to line the envelopes with matching belly bands to keep them together.
I suggested a removeable glue dot between the belly band and RSVP card.
You don't need it, but it looks much better with a ribbon or belly band. It's like men wearing belts with their pants. It looks more complete.

We designed our own invitations, a simple 5x7 card and one small insert with online RSVP information. No inner envelope.
My mom seems to think I need to include a paperclip or ribbon or something to hold the invitation and insert together. I'm not convinced.
Did any other bees send out just an invitation and reply card? Any issues with guests losing the insert?
