Well that invite pic you have up has actually no problems - the yellow is more decorative than text, so that addresses the readability concern! I'm sure your Dad knows his stuff, but is he picturing something with lots of yellow text/ detail on it?
Sorry I am not well versed in board-posting etiquette. I wanted to post it in 2 different categories, but I guess its not necessary.
No need to apologize, but it shows up on the main board based on how long ago the last response was. :)
You don't have yellow as any of the main text, so I don't see any problem with it. If you had the main text yellow, then I would veto that. As it stands, it looks great!
I work in a print shop (Minuteman Press) in Bloomington MN, and we don't charge differnet amounts for different colors, If we have the color already it is one price if we need to buy ink there is a one time surcharge. simple as that.
as far as it being too hard to read, becuase it isn't text it isn't a big deal, and printers have ways of making it awesome it is our job!
let me know if you are still looking for a printer we are always willing to help a girl out! now I know I am biased since I work here but I am doing all my own wedding printing here, becuase we never send out something that we wouldn't be proud of.

Sorry, there are no users yet.
Here is my situation. My wedding colors are yellow and grey. I am in love with this color combo and I know its not traditional but it fits us very well. I recently found an invitation design that I love and my fiance plans on using it as inspiration to design our invitations (see picture).
When I was talking to my dad about them he argued with me that yellow will be way too hard to see on a white background AND that yellow is the most expensive color to print (he used to work in the printing industry)...But I do NOT want to change my color combos. There are lots of yellow/grey/white invitations online so why would they sell them if they weren't readable?
So my questions are, from your experience is yellow too hard to read on a white background? And if anyone else has had yellow printed on invitations, is it more expensive than other colors?? I know I just need to call around and get a quote, but I haven't gotten that far yet.
If anyone has personal experiences, advice or opinions to share please do!
