Thanks in advance for your responses. I have a question about addressing invitations. I am inviting a friend where I don’t really know the husband so when I address the invite do I address and Mrs. Friend and Husband or Mr. & Mrs. Husband First Name Last Name. Sorry if this sounds stupid…

Not stupid at all!
Personally, I’d do "Frank and Mary Smith" — unless your wedding is super-formal, then I’d go with "Mr. and Mrs. Frank Smith."

what we did is:
Mr. and Mrs. "joe" and "maria" Smith.
that way, both of their names are listed .
Just a thought!!

I would just put Mr. and Mrs. Joe Smith. After all, she is Mrs. Joe Smith isn’t she? She will probably open it anyway and if he does and isn’t sure who you are, he’ll leave it on the counter and voila!

I would do whatever you’re doing on your other invitations. If other people are being invited as "Mr. and Mrs. Joe Smith" then follow that format. We opted to list everyone as "Mrs. Jane Smith & Mr. John Smith" so that everyone’s individual name is acknowledged. I personally really dislike being addressed as Mrs. Joe Smith since my name is not Joe, so I did not want to put other people in that situation too.

I would just go with the accepted norm which would be Mr and Mrs Joe Smith. You never know, that friend might be part of the ettiquette police and you wouldn’t want to confuse her 🙂
