@Mez03:  I don’t think a week or two before the 6-8 week guideline is that big of a deal. We didn’t do STDs, but we sent out our invites towards the end of August, and our wedding was in the second week of November – so around the 10 week mark. No one freaked out. 🙂

I think you’ll be fine.

@Mez03:  My wedding coordinator just told me that I should plan to send out invitations two months before the wedding, and she told me to get the invitations ORDERED by two months prior to the date we intend to send them.  We are setting the RSVP date 3 weeks before the wedding, giving our guests about 5 weeks to respond.

If you’re confident that all of your guests are aware of your wedding date, I’d stick to 8 weeks so that they don’t have too long to respond and wind up forgetting to RSVP.  If you think that some of them might be taken off guard by the invite, or might have forgotten the date, I’d say 10 weeks is fine.  Personally I don’t understand all the hoopla over when invitations “have” to be sent.  Trust your intuition and send them whenever you think works best for you and your guests.

We didn’t do STDs either, so we’re sending ours out at the end of this month. That’s 10 weeks before the wedding, and they’ll have 7 weeks to reply – our RSVP deadline is 2.5 weeks before the wedding. We have some people who are travelling (within the country) so we want to make sure there’s enough time, hence the extra few weeks.

@Mez03:  I have a lot of family from out of town so i sent them out 12 weeks in advance. Also the hotel i have booked drops any un used rooms to the public a month before the wedding so people need to book the rooms soon. It all depends on if you feel the people need that extra time. I requested to get my RSVPs about a month before the wedding so I can get a lot of stuff in order and not be rushing towards my wedding day.

@Mez03:  In your invites are you adding anything about your hotel and about using a code or special rate for the room?? I would also add that it drops off a certain date. I did that for mine. Some of my family procrastinate so i made sure they knew!
