(Closed) Invitation Wording

Well, I am a PhD and I find it kind of pretentious when people use "Doctor/Dr." at all in their personal lives (like casual communications or dinner reservations).  My doctorate says nothing about who I am as a private person, so I don’t use it.

Does he really need both credentials on there?  Is he willing to just choose one?

What about "The reverend Dr. and Mrs. John Doe?" Because and MD is more associated with Dr, while PhD is more associated with the letters after the name.
