I’m having a bit of an issue with my wedding invitations.
I got the proofs from the printing company and had fiancé read them over. He doesn’t usually have a comment on anything but the first thing he said was that it sounds like we’re cheaping out.
It reads, “Cocktail reception, hors d’oeuvres, and dancing to follow”.
This ‘cocktail reception’ is actually costing quite a bit more than a traditional sit down meal would.
Does anyone have a suggestion on how better to word this?

I’m interested in the wording too, since that’s basically what I want to do too! It just keeps people mingling, up and moving, and hopefully dancing and enjoying themselves! 🙂
What sort of hor’derves are you having? I’m thinking of having waiters bringing champagne and hor’derves around, but also have a carving station and something else for those who want to have a more robust meal.

I’m a bit limited for space so there won’t be any stations. I’m waiting to hear the ideas from my caterer but so far somethings are crustinis, satays, soups in shot glasses, tarts, and whatever else he can come up with.
I can let you know more when I find out.

i am having a ‘cocktail’ revception too. but i put that in qoutes bc yes it is more expensive than sit down dinner, and there will be wayyyyyy more food there. 5 different meat options, many veggie tray, fruit tray, cheese tray, mini sandwiches, mac and cheese, etc etc. that being said… i am putting “please join us for dinner, drinks, and dancing immediately following the ceremony at blah blah blah”.
