- Wedding: July 2012
I am a DIY bride and will be printing my invites and mailing them this week – actually asap! I am all about going against traditional “norms” because to me they’re boring! I want to make the wedding about us and not necessarily tradition.
I’ve read up on all the different ways of wording an invite depending on who’s footing the bill, and if parents are married, divorced, yadda yadda yadda!
I am trying to make our invites a little different… I am a high school english teacher and would love to incorporate a quote or play on words to tie it to the quotes…
My wedding is not a black tie affair, however it’s not a backyard BBQ… I would say it’s semi-formal. Our invites are formal looking as they were the cheapest we could find that weren’t UGLY. I just don’t see the need to go all formal on the spelling – using honour of your presences… blah blah blah… It’s supposed to be about us – then why not make the invite all about us too?
This is what I like for our RSVP cards. However I think my mom will hate it!:
To celebrate, please join us
For some adult only shenanigans.
Dinner starts at 7 pm,
And the fun continues with
awkward yet enthusiastic dancing.
Please alert us by July 6, 2012 if you plan to join in on our shenanigans!
_______ Yes! I/We will enthusiastically join in on the awkward dancing! (But no pictures please!)
_______ No! I/We will have to miss the awkward dancing! (Be sure to take pictures!)
_______ Adult(s) attending the fun!
Please use the back of this card to include your favorite dancing song!
Is this too informal? I found a website that recommend a “funny” RSVP card because our guests would be more likely to respond.
I just don’t like the lovey dovey wording on invites! Some of the suggestions I’ve found make me gag!!!! (It’s not that I don’t love my Fiance… but this is more a formality for us… we’ve been together for 10 years! We’re passed the “honeymoon” stage in our relationship!)
Please make suggestions! or suggest websites to check out! I just need to get them done asap and if I don’t find something I like, my mom(zilla) will print them for me!
