We are doing the same thing....Ceremony outside on the patio, cocktail hour and reception immediately following. We are going to write on the invite, "Cocktail hour and Recepetion immediately following". A lot of guests are confused when they get the invite and they don't know whats going on - especially people that aren't familiar w/ the ceremony/reception site - Don't leave them guessing!!
You don't have to write it on the bottom of the invitation; however, it would be nice to let your guests know that there is going to be a reception following the ceremony, and that is usually the best way.
I have the same situation and I've played around with wording...this is how I think i'm doing it:
Ceremony at Six O'Clock in the Evening
-Location-
-Address-
Adult reception immediately following.

We are having our ceremony and reception at the same location, reception immediately following the ceremony. Is it necessary to write on the bottom of the invitation: "reception immediately following?"
