@brooklyngirlie22: My fiance and I wanted a very simple wedding. Casual and intimate.

did you order yet? send? when are you asking guests to reply by?

– I made my own from a kit from michaels. They were fairly easy to do on my own. I made one minor mistake and totally goofed up but just sent them anyways because our wedding is fairly casual. I hand delivered a few already, it’s a small enough guestlist we just left our phone number to rsvp. the venue only needs 3 days notice, so if by the time there aren’t rsvped, we can just call them. It’s 90% family.

Also, I know it’s faux paus and bad etiquette to send so early but our family’s were trying to take control of the guestlist and fight for who was going and who wasn’t. It become overwhelming and we felt that they were trying to make their weddings about them. It’s a long story. But in the end we sent them out now so that they could not longer harass us everyday asking about the guestlist. It’s set and it’s final!

how are you getting them addressed?

– My wedding is really casual like yours so we just printed in a nice font onto clear 3m stickers.

what kind of stamps are you using?

– most of ours are hand delivered, there are only a few we have to send, we are just going to the post office.

We ordered ours from Etsy. They are pretty casual and chill, like us. They have owls on them!

They arrived a while ago. It took me so long to address our save the dates, I will start addressing them soon to send out in June. Is it two months or three months in advance? I can’t keep track of these random wedding rules!

  • yes, i ordered and received mine already… i wanted time to line and address the envelopes
  • My wedding is 9/10/11 – RSVP by 8/20

how are you getting them addressed? calligraphy is too formal for my wedding.

  •  Faux-ligraphy.  I found some awesome pens on sakuraofamerica.com  I think I’m going with a 3-D glaze over a stardust.

what kind of stamps are you using? (I know this is kind of crazy to think about, haha)

  • i’ve been thinking about this for a while.  I went to the post office to see how much each would be.  I’ll need 61cent stamps.. but i really like the King and Queen… is it crazy to put 88cents on an envelope that only needs 61cents?

I’ve had mine for awhile; I ordered early just to cross them off my list. I’m sending them out probably mid June, asking for a reply by July 20th (one month from the wedding) and will probably just use a calligraphy font to address them and print them off. I’m also holding out for the new floral stamps coming out that I think are postcard stamps- they are herbs instead of that dumb polar bear. For the main invitations, I’m using the good old King and Queen of Hearts.

@Misslizzy: Depends on how many you’re sending! Is having a pretty stamp worth $30 more to you? It’s not to me, but it might be to you.

@Margaritachka: Hey we r doing very different and modern invitations. btw their turned out awesome. It’s a portretcature, which is almost like a caricature but they dont make you look ugly. Good prices and amazing service , the artist will work with you until you are 100% satisfied. Nice to see another Russian bride on the bee 🙂

We are making our own invitations – my MOH & Mom are both crazy scrapbookers/card makers so I have tons of help!

We’ve designed them and bought most of the materials… just have to put them together.

We’ll be sending them at the end of this month or in early May.

We’re going to be addressing them with printed labels. Boring but easy!

I hadn’t given much thought to stamps… probably just regular ones unless we can find something cool!

@ohheavenlyday: me too! Im getting married 28th August, and have had mine for a little while- I want to address and stuff them in advance. About 1/2 are done.

Im sending mine out late May for a June RSVP- about 6 weeks before the weeding. Gives me lots of time to chase any missing ones.

Sent Save the dates out at the 6 month mark, and at teh 12month mark for those coming from abroad
