I'm sending a STD to our photographer (also someone we know socially, plus it has our wedding website address on it for him to learn travel info, etc.), and I was thinking of sending one to our caterer (who I like a lot) and our officiant and ourselves! (For the scrapbook!)

Are you guys sending them to vendors?

I didnt send mine to vendors - but I did technically send it to our officiant because it was my FBIL who was officiating our wedding :) If you know them socially or like them and have the budget for extra invites, go for it!

Unless any of your vendors are friends, they don't receive a save the date or invite since you already have a business contract in place with them. Your photographer though may want an invite to take pictures of but they won't keep it as a souvenier simply because they don't know you on an everyday basis.

We're sending one to our officiant but only because she is already a friend and would be receiving one anyway.

Olive25 I sent one to our photographer and one to our ceremony singers. It's a good back-up plan incase anyone says they got lost or didn't have the exact location, time, etc.

I read somewhere on this site that the photographer will sometimes surprise the couple with a special picture of the invite. Just a thought.
