Hey everyone, I’m new here and was reading through the threads and saw that many of you have already purchased (or at least picked out) your invitations and/or save the dates! I hadn’t even started looking at them yet!!
What have you chosen? Pics!
We’ve only been engaged since April 1st (yes, he proposed on April Fools day. *eyeroll* lol), but we’re plugging along at the check list, though it seems neverending!

I got engaged later in April and I haven’t picked out either! I am planning to send save the dates in August or Sept. I’ve picked out a few designs I like online (magnets) but not really focusing on that until after we get our engagement pics done (not even scheduled yet!). Invites? Forget about it! Those don’t get sent out until 2-3 months before so i don’t plan on looking for those until sometime in the beginning of the year!

Don’t worry about a thing- you’ve got time! Save the dates generally get send out 5-6 months in advance and invitations are even later than that- about 2 months to your wedding. So pick a date, book a venue, have an engagement shoot IF your doing that then start to work on save the dates.
Also, save the dates are optional not mandatory. We sent out save the dates then cancelled our wedding 3 weeks later and boy was it a pain to notify every guest and explain. If we had skipped the save the dates, no one would have been affected in the least.

I chose to go with an Etsy seller. It’s still in process but we’re going to go with this Superhero Save The Date design https://www.etsy.com/listing/191657067/superhero-save-the-date-custom-portrait?ref=shop_home_feat_1 because my fiance and I are geeky. xD It’s going to be epic! We’re getting our faces drawn and invitations to match!! I will post pics when it’s ready!!!
It sounds like you have plenty of time to choose your save the dates/invites, there’s so many options online to tailor to your personalities. Have a blast! No need to feel like you have to rush it! 🙂

Thats what I was thinking Krises! I mean, 6 months out is what I thought was “standard” for save the dates, and for a June wedding that would be January. I’m thinking we’ll do a combo Save the Date/Holiday card (2 sided maybe?) to save on postage!
We already have the venue, the date, the dress (well, mostly)… so I guess starting to look at save the dates really is one of the next things on the list.

brinny04: I actually am making our save the dates and invitations. I’ve already finished the save the dates, we are taking engagement photos tomorrow and then once those are in, we will send them out with a pic 🙂
Only reason we are sending save the dates earlier than usual is because probably 90% of our guests will be (hopefully) coming from out of town.

kortizi0: A good portion of our guests will also be traveling & I intend to make ours too!
We have a silhouette cameo machine and you can use markers in it to make it look hand done, so I think I’m going to do something like that… but I have very picky taste so we’ll see lol.

brinny04: We’ve picked out the company that we are designing them through, and I am DESPERATELY trying to order them by the second week in July so that I can mail them out by the end of August. I’m still working on getting addresses from FI’s family and friends. It takes a surprisingly long time for everyone to get back to you with that info so my recommendation is to start early!!
Our save the dates will be on a heavy ivory cardstock with black letterpress writing. We are thinking of doing something similar to this:
For our formal invitations, we can’t decide between letterpress and engraving! They’re both so pretty!

crackktheskyy: They are lovely! I love letterpress but they’re more expensive than I want to spend on something that will be thrown away.
For the save the dates I want to do a vintage looking photo postcard, along the lines of this:
For our invitations, I want to do something similar to these two:
The overall feel & fonts like this:
but in blue, like this

my mum is helping diy ours, I’m hoping to do late july/early august but I still need address for FI’s family.
A lot of guests are not from the area so we’ve giving lots of notice for arrangements to be made so people can arrange travel/somewhere to stay. my grandmother has already booked somewhere to stay for the wedding. I’ll post a photo of them when they’re done but they look like old fashioned luggage labels. 🙂

brinny04: We got Walmart Printable Invites and then we used balloons for our save the dates 🙂

I’ve finally picked a style of invitation that I really like! I think we will have similar ones made with the black script and gold foil, as well as the rounded edges. We will probably leave off the gold door things, though (I don’t know the technical term for these, LOL!)
Just have to decide now between letterpress and engraving! 😉
