An old friend of mine from high school invited me to her wedding. I didn’t expect to be invited, but I was – but without my fiance. It is an out of town wedding, at least four hours away, and I don’t have a car, so not only would I need to pay for a hotel room, I would need to find someone to carpool with – and potentially only know three other wedding guests – two of whom are her brother and his wife.
I sort of feel like I got invited because she knew I would say I wouldn’t come and I am annoyed.
End of rant.

Does she know that you are engaged?
Are you sending invitations to anyone that you know will not likely attend?
Maybe for some reason she thought that she had to invite you.

She definately knows that I’m engaged – we’ve traded wedding ideas.
I’m not sending invites to people i know won’t attend, except for in the case of very elderly family – and then, if they could come, that would be excellent (but I don’t expect my aunts to leave nursing homes!)
I think that I’m going to be less annoyed in the morning…. it just seems really rude right now.

These are known as duty invites. If you have been trading wedding ideas, she may have felt like you expected an invitation.
