We’re starting to look at timelines for getting our invites out, guest counts in order, etc. I’m getting myself all mixed up trying to figure this out, though, so thought I’d turn to the hive for help. 🙂 I’m making it more complicated than it needs to be, I’m sure, but I’ve tried to explain it as simply as possible…
Our venue, which charges a per-person fee rather than a flat fee, needs to have our guest count (ie- guaranteed minimum) by 2/19/11. (Our caterer doesn’t need to know until a week later- 2/26.)
There are also lots of folks on our “B list” that we’re hoping to invite, so I’m hoping we can do like Mrs. Seashell did and send a tiered timeline of invitations. As “no’s” come in from our A list, we can send out B list invites with a different RSVP by date, so it’s not obvious that they were on the B list.
With all that in mind, I’m thinking of doing an A list RSVP of 1/24, and B list RSVP of 2/7. Does that sound like it will give us a enough time to track down the stragglers before our venue count due date? Also, when does that mean we should send out the first round of invites? I was thinking 12/29/10-ish, so that all the invites should be received by 1/3/11, which will then give guests from the A list a minimum of 3 weeks to respond. I know we’ll have stragglers, but is 3 weeks a standard amount of time?
My worry with that is that with the invites going out that early, it means they’re 10 1/2 weeks out from the wedding. Invites don’t normally go out until 6-8 weeks before the wedding. Are we sending too early? (But if we send later, that will give them less time to respond. Anything less than 3 weeks would seem too rushed, no?)
Gah! See! I’m making myself crazy! What would you recommend?
