Just over 2 months before the wedding and we finally sent out 95% of the invites today! So relieved to have that part done with and since the RSVP is via e-mail or phone I’m hoping to get a faster response than mailing back the cards. Any other brides who did RSVP like this? Did you get a faster response or do people ‘forget’ to send an e-mail?
I would also like to mention that last weekend we also: contacted a few catering services, had my second dress fitting, made an appointment with a florist, bought flower girl dress and bought FHs wedding band….BUT this wedding still doesn’t feel real!! When did it start feeling real for you girls?

Brace2014: I sent all my paper invites out today. I didn’t do email or phone reply. that didn’t even cross my mind. I honestly don’t think it’s going to feel real until the morning of when you put that dress on. I think that’s when i’m going to start hyperventalating.

Brace2014: yay! We sent out invites about 3 weeks ago, so far we have had responses from about half the guests via our wedding website. Overall the online RSVPs have been well received except some older guests have been writing toy parents instead. Exactly 2 months to go for me!! I agree it doesn’t feel totally real yet , I hope it will once I have my dress fitting.

Sunshineliz22: How exciting! So far the e-mail/phone reply has been slow, only 2 people have replied this way. Most of the people we invited have “unofficially confirmed” in conversations, so I don’t think many will bother emailing to calling us up. Lets hope it will all feel real on the wedding day 😛
Audrey2: That’s great that your online RSVP is working out, if you read my comment above you will see it’s not doing so great for us 😛 Maybe we should have made a website for people to visit haha. We are almost date twins! (july 4th)

Brace2014: congrats on getting your invites out!! and I see you posted info to the july rsvp thread too – http://boards.weddingbee.com/topic/july-2014-rsvp-thread/#axzz30xO88Mju
one rec to get your rsvps flowing back in faster- send an email out to each of your guests at some point (bcc or individually, but not just to all). that way, they can just hit reply. you’ll get rsvps flowing in in no time. I would probably send a pdf or scanned or electronic version of the invite out and say in the body of the email, you can rsvp anytime (or by x date) by replying to this email.
another bride I know didn’t send emails, but had a website rsvp and she had a much harder time than I did getting ppl to rsvp. Ppl are lazy- if you send them a communication in the same format as you want their reply, they’re way more likely to reply and way more likely to reply sooner. we’re more than 2 months out & I think 91% of our guests have replied (and we sent links to our site for rsvp out by email).
