So I think I've found the perfect invitations. I found them on Etsy. I'll be needing around 90 of them. Our wedding falls a couple days before the 4th of July so I thought the fireworks were really cute and appropriate. She charges 6.50 per invite. I really liked the save-the-dates and thank yous that matched but those are $1.75 and $1.50, respectfully. I calculated $867.75 for all three for 90 sets. Is that too much in your opinion? I'd like to keep the expenses low on these. Hmmmm.
I honestly don't think that is too bad so long as it fits in your budget! (and I really like those invites!)
People get sticker shock with the cost of invitations but think about it this way. Would you think twice about going to Hallmark and buying a card for someone? That's going to run you $3-$5 before postage and it wasn't personalized for your needs - it's just a mass produced generic card. So $6.50 for a whole suite of things designed exactly how you need/want them doesn't seem too unreasonable to me!
I really don't think it's unreasonable either. I too am getting my invites from Etsy and I think they are are 5.99, however I only need around 50. Yours are super cute!
I don't think its too expensive. Mine are $5.40 each (we paid cash, since we have horrible tax in Canada)
It sounds like a lot to me, especially when you add in the cost to mail them and stamps on the RSVP's. Does anyone else on Etsy have something similar?
We paid $6. and $7.50 each from seperate Etsy vendors, but we didn't need as many.
For me the invites were not a big deal, as in I got 200 for 35 dollars at Walmart, so would I pay that much, no. BUT if its something you want and have the money for then go for it! Only you know if its too much.
It also sounds like a lot to me too. I spent a total of $1,000 on 200 sets of invitations. That's right...200 of them for my 400 person wedding. So getting 90 sets for almost $900 seems a bit pricey.
@june42011: im with you! i bought 80 invites for 29.99 (buy one get one free) at michaels and printed them at home. they turned out great!
those invites are pretty and i think they are an average price to pay to have your invitations printed. if its in your budget i say go for it!
I don't think they are expensive either. However, I am a lover of paper details, so I would spend more too if I really loved them. Our invites are coming out to about $6 each (custom letterpress invite, with supplementary cards my brother is designing).
Does this also include the envelopes? Though envelopes aren't too expensive (about $30ish), it's still something that should be included. If you love the them, you should do it!
I don't think its too much but I spent $8 on each of my invites. I will say that while the matching Thank You cards may be cute you could easily drop them for something more generic if you're looking to save money.
My definition of keeping the costs low for invites is less than that. Are they worth more than something you'd have to give up later? Or can you afford them? I'm not sure what keeping the price low means to you :)
Wow!!!
Those are really nice, but for me they are really expensive. They look like they would be really easy to DIY, so that is the route I would go; however, you know what your budget looks like, and if you don't want to DIY them, then go for it. I just think you could DIY them for a lot less.
Those are really cute! If it fits in your budget, go for it! If you are looking for a cheaper option see if a design student or local graphic artist could come up with the same thing for less money.
Those are way cute! I wouldn't pay that much, but my budget is only $6,000. I don't think that's too expensive if their worth it for you and in your budget. They are terrible adorable.
Wow mine were WAY cheaper than that. I got them from AC Moore and used 50% off coupons for each box and it was a lot less. They were exactly what we were looking for and printed them at home. They looked professional! But if you think its important then go for it!
I know how important the invites are but 90% will get thrown away (some even before the wedding) and even if you ask guests at the wedding what the invites were like. most wouldn't be able to tell you. Again, not that I don't think they're imporrtant since its the first impression of you two and the wedding but keep in mind your own budget you set. buy smart.
Too expensive for MY budget...but if YOU can afford them, I say go for it! They are really cute.
I especially like the save the dates! Very cute.
Like others have said, it all depends on your budget. I'm hoping to keep my invites around $150-200 total, but my budget is $5500.
I think they are expensive. They are cute but they aren't that detailed and don't have the usually pricey finishes like letterpress. They look like you can get them off of Vistaprint for much less.
Way too expensive for my taste. I'm looking at my invites being around $1 each for 175 invites.
Just based on how it looks, it would be a DIY job for me. But if it fits in your budget, go for it!
Honestly, that's pretty pricey. If you think about it - it's almost $10 per invite. And I know you don't want to hear this - but they will end up in the trash. I'm sorry! Why not get them for the save the dates and thank yous, since those are petty reasonable, and then try to recreate the style for your invite?
If you are really into them and they fit your budget I say go for it. Personally I wouldn't because I am on a tight budget and I found a cheaper way for mine while still looking nice. Yours are really nice though so again, if it's in the budget have fun and splurge!
To me, that is way too much for something people will likely be throwing away. I am DIYing mine and they will be about fifty cents each and then there is postage on top of that.
I think you could find something similar for a lot less money or even make something similar yourself.
They are beautiful, but I could never spend nearly $900 on invitations! Yikes! My invites were around $100 for 120 of them and they turned out wonderfully (Michaels Bride invitations)
However, if $900 on invitations fits in your budget, go for it!
I really like the invitations - theyre beautiful! However, I do think they are very pricey. Our invitations were $2.75 a piece from Etsy as well. (LittleLadyBugPress) and they were custom designed for us with invite, information card, response card and envelope. The postcard RSVPs also came pre-stamped. We spent around $500 total (including stamps for sending out) for about 130 invitations
I think that is a bit high. I plan on getting pocketfolds that include a response card and envelope and directions card and an accommadation card and also include the band and monogrammed tag for $6.50. I think you should find someone on etsy who prices are cheaper and see what they could do a similar design for cheaper.
@Lindsaygooding: Fi could make those for a lot cheaper! Yay for graphic designers!
For non-letterpress that seems really pricy to me, and I am into pricey invitations.
We have custom designed invites for $7.50 because I love paper and it's a place I really wanted to spend money. However our $7.50 invites have a front and then pockets on the back with four individually designed cards and a ribbon around the whole thing. So, while on the one hand I agree with some posters that say that if you have the budget and it's important to you -- no it's not too much. But I'm not positive that you're getting the value for your $$.
Have you tried local invite shops that do custom work? They tend to give you a lot of individual attention.
Mine ended up being about 10.00 per invite, not including thank you notes so I think you're fine. I kind of regret spending as much as I did but they're just so PURTY!!!
@noritake22: Thanks! How would I do them myself? Any help is appreciated!
@heather25: I was wondering about getting them off Vistaprint. Do you know how I wouuld go about doing this? I saw there is an option to upload your own design but where do I find this template? Any help is appreciated!
@JrzyGurl: I would love to DIY this but have no clue how! Any ideas?
@Lindsaygooding: To DIY it, you would need to buy the supplies to print and design it yourself.
Or non-DIY, but cheaper route you could also get it designed from a different designer. You could put a bid out for a graphic designer or even put it up on Etsy (uncer Alchemy) to see if anyone could do it cheaper. Good luck!
We had a graphic artist friend design ours. We ordered pocketfolds & had the invites, RSVP's, and information card all printed & cut at Staples!!! We DIY 150 invitations and the cost breakdown was $2.45 each!!! Even if you have to pay someone to design them them, you'll still come out way ahead! Ours look amazing!
Feel free to message me if I can help!
I found a save the date I fell in love with, but couldn't afford to get 100 of them. I convo'ed the designer on etsy and told her about being on a limited budget and asked if she'd be willing to just sell the digital file. She said yes and for $30 I got the digital file to the save the dates, wrap around labels for the envelopes and she even sent me free downloads to the fonts she used so I could add in everyone's addresses on the wrap around label and have it match. If you really love that design (and it's SUPER cute).. don't hesitate to convo the seller! =D
