This probably shouldn’t even phase me but I invited my bosses to my wedding mainly because I work for a small company and I have been here for over 3 years and kind of work closely with them. My co-worker got married last month(second wedding) and she has been with the company for 14 years so clearly a lot longer than I have. Anyway, they came to her wedding and gave me the impression they were coming to mine( I was also invited to her wedding) Then this week when the RSVP is due, they both are unable to make it because it’s along weekend and have stuff going on. But I just feel like kind of upset by this even though I know I shouldn’t. Anyone have this happen? It’s like since I haven’t been here ‘that’ long they didnt care to make the effort. I only say that because at first it seemed they were going to come then all of the sudden backed out. I know this is petty but it bugs me a bit.

All I have to say is I would be HORRIFIED if my boss showed up to my wedding.
I would not take it personally though. Keep your head up 🙂

did the other girl get married ona long weekend too? i know that long weekends can be a major deal breaker for some folks, especially if they have a long standing family tradition for that weekend.
honestly though, i would thank every diety possible that your bosses wont be there. who cares why they couldnt make it! your weddings hould be about having fun, not being professional!

I think you should let it go and not take it personally. Columbus day weekend is a big day for fall festivals and family events so maybe they really do have plans already established. I know quite a few couples/families that take annual trips that weekend, before it gets too cold out! Don’t sweat it, just be happy that maybe they won’t be seeing you and your friends partying it up and avoid some Monday morning awkwardness
