Inviting Bridesmaid from out of country?

I would talk to her and see if she can come. If she says yes, then I would ask her to be a bridesmaid. I don’t think you need to cover her travel expenses if she would come anyway. That said, I certainly wouldn’t expect her to come more than once (ie not for your shower/bachelorette parties or to help plan).

PS if your wedding date is really May 2015, I wouldn’t mention it until at least May 2014.

I think if you ask her to be a bridesmaid then it would be nice to pay her travel fees. I’m assuming she would want to be your bridesmaid if you asked, but if she couldn’t afford to travel then it might make you both feel bad. Can you afford it?

if you have extra money, but all means offer to help pay her cost over.

if you want her as a BM, ask her.  it will be her decision to make.

@Haruyou:  I think you should ask her but stress that you won’t mind if she can’t make it. If it were me I don’t see why inviting her as a guest would be easier – if it were me I’d be way more likely to come if I was asked to be a bridesmaid. It’s not that my friend’s wedding wouldn’t be important to me if I was just guest  – but I’ve declined to attend out of state weddings because the the dstance. I can’t imagine flying from Japan!

If she agrees to be a BM then make sure you’re super accommodating – if you’re getting married locally have her stay at your house, maybe contribute to her travel expenses (if you want to and feel you can do it), order her dress for her etc.

@Haruyou:  A lot of people have dates on there that are not really their wedding.
