We’re only inviting OOT children.  I think it’s perfectly acceptable.

We just had this discussion because we realized that we’re inviting several OOT couples with young children… and we had to decide to stick with the total “no kids” policy, because including the kids from local families will bump us way over what we can do, and it’s not really fair to our local guests either.

We’re going to provide babysitter references, and I totally understand if they choose not to come. We just can’t swing the numbers. :

I think it depends on whether you want children there at all or not.  We definitely wanted FI’s little cousins and a few other kids we love there, so they were definitely going to be invited.  All of them happen to live out of town.  On the other hand, I don’t care about some of my friends’ kids, and I won’t be unhappy if they don’t show up.  We can’t afford to invite a bunch of kids we don’t care about, and thus local kids don’t get invitations.  Problem solved.
