How involved is your family in the planning process and in the ceremony iteself?
I am having my step dad walking me down the isle, my little brother will be the ring bearer, my little sister will be the flower girl, and my other little brother is going to escort my little sister down the isle. I am thinking about having one of my sisters be a bridesmaid as well.

@roxirose: Our mom’s were involved in the planning, but not really much of the rest of the family. Ceremonies are a bit different in our religion (no flower girls, no escorts), but our fathers were our witnesses and our mothers sat in a special place. It’s so fun that your family is so involved!

I’m having the wedding at my parents’ property, so they’re very involved with that. I’ve also got an aunt knitting a bolero/cardigan thingy to wear over my wedding dress. I have a lot of other family members helping prepare food or providing equipment for the wedding, and my sister and SIL are both bridesmaids. Oh, and my niece is a flowergirl.
So my family are pretty involved in a lot of the wedding planning and events. Fiance’s family, not so much, but it’s been very hard to find a middle ground with their involvement. If they were involved, it needed to be completely involved (i.e. consult with them on everything, they pay for it, etc.). When we didn’t consult with them on everything, I think they felt that we didn’t want their involvement at all.

@LadyElva: It’s cool that your family is so involved! That sucks that your in laws think you don’t want their help, though.
