I am not gettng married in Iowa but I am having a reception at my FIL's farm in Perry Iowa near Des Moines!!! We are looking forward to a fun filled barn party!

I'm an Iowa Bride. We live in Missouri Valley, but are getting married at Lake Okoboji on August 29th!

The Barn Party sounds fun. My FSIL had hers at a barn in Omaha. If you need any ideas or example pics, let me know.

We're getting married in Iowa City on the 18th of September - and while I know a lot about IC, I don't know much about DSM. I read the blog on weddingsiniowa.com, which has lots of tips for vendors, etc. Good luck!

I'm an Iowa bride too. I grew up in DSM, met my fiance in Ames, and we'll be getting married in DSM. I've just barely started planning, but I'd be glad to help if I can. Venues are about all I've researched so far though.

I'm getting married here in Des Moines (well, West Des Moines, but Des Moines as far as I am concerned) and I have had a fun time trying to figure out where to get married. There are so many options and they all have their good and bad points. We are getting married in the park that is hosting the Hy-Vee triathalon this weekend. The lodge has a wall that is mostly windows that looks over the lake. Holler if you have any questions!

I'm getting married in DSM in just a few short weeks. I think I looked at every venue possible! Let me know if you have any questions about any!!

We went with Hy-Vee Conference Center in West Des Moines. They have been an absolute dream to work with and I would recommend them to anybody!

Hello!! I just wrote this long thing and then refreshed the page...oi.

anyway my fiance and I are IC natives (ok he's not born), and while we've lived in many other places in the world for now we've both ended up back at Iowa, both finishing up school.

We're set to get married on August 21, 2010 and i'm so excited!!! The most hilarious thing is while we finish up paying off our ring on layaway (such a sad story) we're technically not engaged by a ring...however a photographer, date, ceremony/reception location, officiant, etc are all set in stone- how strange is that?!

SO congrats to all! I know there's a few boards devoted to fitness and what not - but perhaps we can get something going on a more local level. If there's any IC bee's around let me know! Would love to have someone experiencing the similar vending/cake issues i'm contemplating.
