I too am having an outdoors event in the area! I haven't got any specific suggestions, but I would recommend looking up state and county park locations. Maybe look for a barn around the Amana's! I love schwab barn! Do you have any family members with acceptable yards? Ooh I'd also look around Kalona and Wellman. There are some very beautiful homes and buildings in the area.
Doesn't it seem like there are no outdoor venues in this area?! Takes a lot of digging. Good Luck.
Okay this isn't rustic, but outdoors... Have you thought about the gardens up in Ames?
thanks for the info bamboo! we actually found a barn about 10 miles out of iowa city that seems to fit the bill! it's the secrest 1883 octagonal barn...very rustic, but has bathrooms:)

I am getting married too in 2010, there is a new place I am thinking of booking called Stouts Serenity Acres, it's located in Washington, Iowa (south of the University of Iowa by 30 miles). Anyway, has anyone heard of this place? Their website is www.stoutsserenityacres.com and it looks rustic!

hello! i am in need of some help finding a location for my reception. my fiance and i are looking for a barn or a unique outdoor place to host our wedding reception (and possibly the wedding itself.) we tried the schwab round barn but they're booked through 2010 and we've taken a look at Gazebo on the Green, but we're looking for something a bit more rustic. Any help you guys can give me is very much appreciated! Thanks!!
