I have been keeping a list of songs that come up on my iPod that I think would be good dancing songs. My big issue at my brothers wedding was that a lot of the music was a very odd tempo. Too fast for slow dancing, but too slow for fast dancing.
I plan on including some more "traditional" songs that will definitely get people up to dance, but thus far some of my more common songs are:
Al Green- "Let's Stay Together"
Stevie Wonder- "Signed, Sealed, Delivered"
Frankie Valli & the Four Seasons - "Oh What a Night"
Huey Lewis and the News -"Back in Time"
Eric Clapton- "Wonderful Tonight"
But then I've also got some fun covers of songs. I bought this cd from BBC Radio 1 for their 40th Anniversary. They had 40 different bands cover songs from the past 40 years. So I have some cover songs on there too:
Kaiser Chiefs- "Flowers in the Rain"
Lily Allen- "Don't Get Me Wrong"
The Streets- "Your Song"
The Pigeon Detectives- "Power of Love"
Amy Winehouse- "Cupid"
I also have some other random songs that I like a lot.
Kevin Spacey- "That's All" (From the Beyond the Sea soundtrack)
and my fiance and I are huge Star Trek nerds, so we are using some Brent Spiner songs, specifically "It's a Sin" and "Zing! Went the Strings of My Heart"
Other fun songs on my list:
"Kiss at the End of the Rainbow" from a Mighty Wind soundtrack
and there will be a lot of instrumental Battlestar Galactica music played during dinner!

I know there's been a lot of buzz about ipod wedding receptions on here lately, and since that's what we're doing i was wondering if I could get some help...
those of you that have chosen your own music - what songs really helped get your party going? and what got your guests dancing?
thanks much! :)
