Anyone doing their own wedding soundtrack? I have such a problem with the DJ's in our area they just seem so cheesey! Anyone have any must include songs?
i'm doing the same thing, were not having a big dance time, just some slow romantic-ish music in the background. I havent bought all the music yet but i for sure going to have some frank sinatra and michael buble and probably some jack johnson too. We also got the bose iPod speakers, they can fill a large room with beautiful sound, they are expensive, but totally worth it!!
if you can think of any more song ideas let me know... we can keep sharing them!
I am thinking of doing the same thing since our venue is already equipped with the sound system and all we need to do is to plug an i-pod in. Are you going to assign someone to watch the i-pod or just let it play?
I'm not a fan of DJs, so I'm more than happy to save the money and do my own music. At least I'll know that the Chicken Dance won't be making a surprise appearance...
i'm planning to do ipod...although i still waver sometimes because i do love dancing, but it just isn't in my budget since other things were more important to me (food, photography)... my only hestitation (which is one of the reasons i'm wavering) which i would think about is either having someone man your ipod since many songs have different volumes..some songs are quieter and some songs are significantly louder than others.. it would seem awful to have a SUPER Loud song followed by a quiet romantic one that you can't hear... my other concern is that most songs run a little long, so dancing to one particular song for 4-5 minutes can get..a bit boring i imagine since most djs probably splice or mix the songs. a last concern is the transition between songs...
if there is a way to address the volume variation between songs and splicing/transitioning songs using itunes, PLEASE SHARE! If that can be fixed, then i am settled with the ipod as well!!!
There are programs out there that will allow you to set the volume/ease the transition between songs. My FI says you can do it in iTuenes. He's in charge of that aspect of our ipod wedding.
MP3 trimmer is a program that will help trim off the ends of songs if there is a long pause at the end or some annoying bits or if you wanted to splice songs together.
