Irrational thoughts/fear…

I have an irrational fear of getting attacked by a coyote or a wild animal. I love hiking but can’t fully enjoy it because i am convinced an animal is hiding in the bushes waiting to eat me.

Totally ridiculous, I know.

At least once or twice a week, I race home at lunch, gripped with fear, to make sure one or all of the following have not happened:

-I haven’t left a curling iron plugged in, effectively burning down the apartment

-I haven’t left the stove on, effectively burning down the apartment

-Robbers haven’t broken in

-Dog-snatchers (it happens) haven’t broken in and taken our dogs

-One of the dogs hasn’t accidently choked to death on its food

Oh my god! I do the same thing! I refuse to sleep facing my husband and he laughs whenever I tell him he’s suffocating (not actually, but I fear that he is). I’m so glad I’m not the only one.

@krayzay87:  I sometimes sleep in a position where I’m sort of cuddling with my cocker spaniel’s butt.  I’d love to hear your take on that.

@krayzay87:  I’m afraid of flying, but I don’t find that irrational. Plunging to a firey death is not an irrational thing to worry about in my books (or being eaten by sharks if I somehow manage to survive).

Another one is any time the weather is similar to the day I had my car accident and I happen to be driving, I get very panicky that it will happen again. I prefer not to drive because I feel like I might have PTSD or something.

I also get very paranoid about remembering things around the house, similar to @badabing88: Did I lock the door? Turn off the stove? Leave enough food and water out for our puppy? Close the garage door? Did someone break in? Will they when I’m sleeping and FI is on nights?

I guess I am a neurotic stress case, lol.

@strawbabies:  LOL, I hate when furbaby puts his little butt near my face. That would NOT be nice to wake up to.

@badabing88:  Lol you sound like me.

Definitely the check and double (or triple) etc. check before I go to bed and leave the house to make sure that the stove is off, balcony door is shut (so cat doesn’t escape and plunge to his death), and front door is locked.

I routinely worry that something bad will happen to my cat.

Whenever I’m home alone, I’m convinced that someone is going to break in and kill me.

Oh geez I have many more. I have issues lol. Why can’t I be a non-anxious easy-going person?!

ETA: Oh and flying. I hate flying. I get Ativan to help me lol.

@MrsPanda99:  I have the same feeling when I’m in my car!  If I’m back on the freeway and traffic is bad, I seize up, worried that I’ll be in another bad car accident.  I even traded in my small mazda for an SUV, hoping I’d feel safer!

I also have an irrational fear of people dying; I’ve had quite a few family members die in freak accident, and now I’m always worried someone is going to pass away.

And, from watching too many episodes of Criminal Minds and CSI, before I go to bed at night, I always have to get out of bed and check that the doors are locked.

@ykyegbride:  I did the same thing. My car literally crumpled like a tin can and I was lucky I didn’t die. Healing was not fun. My sweet, wonderful FI got me an SUV instead so I would be higher up and feel safer in a more durable vehicle. I still get scared of that crushing sound when cars connect and you get thrown forward though *shudder*

@krayzay87:  I thought of another one (or ten)! God, I really am nuts, lol. FI has a dangerous job so if he takes awhile to text me back or doesn’t immediately answer when I call, I start to wonder if he been in some terrible accident or died. I have left many a psychotic messages on his machine asking him if he is alive (because if he wasn’t, he would be able to tell me :P). I also worry that someone will steal furbaby, bombs will go off downtown, that I will be hit by a car/bus/truck downtown, and that I won’t have enough money for retirement.
