I had the same problem last year when I went off the pill. It had me constantly worried for no reason. Sadly, the doctor's solution? Go back on the pill....sigh.
However, I started taking yaz which helped the mood swings, etc that I was experiencing on the other brands I had taken. Also my skin went nutzo after I stopped the pill, and at 22 that was the last thing I needed to deal with. Yaz completely cleared it up. Hopefully in a few years when we start trying to have a family I won't have too many of the same problems coming off of the pill. That's for future me to deal with though.
Good luck!
hahaah ummm yeah i go like 35 to 40 days between...it's a guessing game :) ugh periods.
I get mine every two weeks usually and if it's a month or longer it is usually crampy and tres miserable. I just started taking the pill Suday-so we'll see...
I was like that. Just like Bellini, I was 30-45 days. I straightened out big time after I had kids. I'm not sure if that helps anyone else out.
Also, if you are interested in looking at NFP, for whatever reason you're going off the pill, it's really good in helping you figure out when you'll be getting your period. You'll see the signs that ovulation is coming etc. It does nothing to keep your period to a tidy 28 day cycle every month. But you can help you understand when you'll be getting your period a few weeks out. (The number of days between ovulation and period varies from woman to woman. But whatever your number is, is generally the stable for you each month.) The variation in your cycle comes in the first half, before you ovulate. But once you figure out when you ovulate, then you have a much better idea of when you'll be getting your period.
For example, if you ovulate on day 14, and get your period on day 28, you have about a 14 day luteal (after ovulation) phase. If another month you find that you ovulate on day 20, you'll notice you don't get your period until day 34. (It might vary by a day etc.) Again, it doesn't straighten out your period, but it sheds some light on your cycle.
Mine has been ridonk since I started a new birth control... a year ago. My OBGYN keeps saying it'll go away, but wtf.
I get a period every 2 weeks. I want to pull my hairs out.
If you are trying to get pregnant, but are having irregular periods your doctor can give you hormone shots or pills that won't prevent pregnancy but help your body regulate itself. Go to the doctor and ask what you can do. If your OB/GYN doesn't have any ideas, then go see a fertility doctor.
Mine is right as rain, but it moves. Every month, it comes two days later... so it rotates around the calendar. Very odd.
I'm like Laylabelle; my period is longer than a month, so it eventually cycles through every date on the calendar. It's usually 32-33 days, but every few months will be a week late. Maybe it has something to do with your body ovulating, or not ovulating? I assume you've been keeping track of it, but a more detailed journal may help you figure things out.
I had the same problem from the time I got my first period to when I went on the pill. It was miserable because I was mostly on a two month cycle, but even that was not very regular. I am kind of frustrated because I found out that a lot of women can have serious medical problems that are related to irregular periods but most doctors just put them on the pill to treat the symptom rather than the cause.
I am irregular- it is a symptom of polycystic ovaries. I have been on depo provera for 6 years, and therefore not had any periods.
I have come off the injection and for the past couple of months have had every 2 weeks. DF is not amused as he is not used to periods at all.
My period was definitely anything but cyclical. Ever since I was about 17, it just went a little crazy. Sometimes I would go about 6 months without having one, then other times I would have a couple each month.
It turned out that I had a pituitary tumor (prolactinoma) that was messing my hormones up. They're actually very common in females and lots of people don't realize they have them if they're not a hormone secreting pituitary tumor..so those types are usually not a big deal unless you start to develop vision problems from the tumor pressing on your optic nerve.
To expand on what rachel_leigh said, I went to my gyno when I was a freshman in college because I started lactating.
I also told him about my irregular periods, and mainly bc of the lactating he speculated that I had the prolactinoma, so he checked my blood levels to see if it was high...and it was. Then he ordered an MRI, but at that time nothing showed up, which is kind of typical if you have a small tumor. Since nothing showed up, he just told me to take birth control and that would make my hormones feel normal (because I felt like I was going through menopause at the age of 17) and regulate my period. Throughout the year I would go in and get blood drawn to see if my prolactin level was high, but it never really got too much higher than the original level, so the gyno never ordered anymore MRI's. Anyway, I stayed on the BC for around a year, then I just got tired of taking it, so I stopped. Then..no more periods for 6 months. In the meantime I did my own research about pituitary tumors, and decided to go see an endocrinologist. The endo did another MRI and the tumor had grown, even though my prolactin level was the same.
Fast forwarding to about a month ago...I got mine taken out at the Mayo Clinic because I couldn't stand what it did to my hormones anymore, and i'd like to have kids in the near future, so it was just a good decision for me. My period has actually made an appearance since surgery..so hopefully that solved the problem!
This was a really long story, so I apologize! I have a tendency to ramble..
I still think that if I would have just kept following the advice of my gyno, i'd still be on BC to this day, and a lot worse off in the long run.
There are TONS of reasons for your period not being normal, but there are also a lot of reasons behind why it may be irregular that are a little more serious. It sounds cheesy, but usually when something isn't quite right with your body, it's trying to tell you something..so listen to it!

Anyone else's period a bit less than normal? When I was on the pill, it came like clockwork- but since I stopped two years ago it's never been on schedule, nor was it before I went on B.C.... I feel like a 13-year-old with an irregular period- not to mention the fact that there's always 1.5 - 2 months between cycles has me eternally peeing on sticks : )
Anyone else's cycle not quite cyclical? Did you ever find out the reason?
