One of FH’s dear friends and mentors will be marrying us. The friend is in his 60s’. I say we should get him a gift as a “thank you”. FH says “Naaaaaah….we don’t have to do that! He’s happy to do this for us!”
Any suggestions for a gift/s? We know of some things he’s interested in (playing the French horn, classic cars) but I’m stumped on what to give him!
Have any of the bees been in this same spot with a friend marrying them?

Well my older brother is marrying us, and we are getting him a gift card to a nice restaurant. Him and his fi (who is a bm) love to go out to eat, so I figured it would be something nice for them.
Maybe you could get him tickets to a classic car show, or maybe a classic car model if he likes to do those.

We’re having a dear friend marry us next weekend (crazy it’s so close!). I want to get her a nice gift, and my mom and I are thinking about what would be appreciated. We already bought her plane ticket to the wedding and are paying for some of her B & B. I want to find a lovely, classy gift that doesn’t break the bank since we’re already paying much more than if we were hiring an officiant.

Our friend married us, and we ended up giving him a signed first edition of his favorite book as a gift.
If you friend drinks, a nice bottle of scotch is always (IMO) a nice gift, or some other nicer liquor. What about a gift certificate for a nice restaurant? Or maybe tickets to a classical concert, since he plays French horn?

My cousin is marrying us and since he is a Pastor, we are getting him a really nice pen and pencil set. FI has been trying to find him a new vow book, since his is antiquated, but they are hard to find.

My godfather will probably be marrying us. He’s a true Virginia gentleman, so we’ll probably get him some nice scotch or burbon.

I’d get him a gift. We got our friend a necklace a few weeks after she agreed to take on the job, and then we sent her flowers the day after the wedding.

My Fiance’s Uncle is a Catholic Priest and will be marrying us. It is custom in the catholic church to give a stipend of at least $100.00. But we have also decided to pay for his flight.

My cousin who is a minister will marry us.

Def get him a gift.
Our officiant was my aunt so I got her some awseome and kinda luxury beauty products (cost me a little bit of money but deemed worth it) that was easy for her to take on the plane back to her home city. A gift voucher would have been useless as she is from a differant state and a really nice card 🙂

Good ideas, Bees! I completely blanked that he and his wife like to take little road trips (in their hot rods, of course). I like the B&B idea or gift certificate for favorite restaurant. Thanks!

Our officiant will be a good friend of ours… and we will either get her and her man (who met at our house!) a gift certificate to a good restaurant, or do a donation to the group (FI is pagan, he is high priest, she is the high priestess). Actually… we will end up doing both I’m sure 🙂

My MOH’s boyfriend is marrying us and we got him a gift certificate to a nice restaurant by their new home. I think that’s nice for someone of any age.
And, yeah, guys totally don’t get the gift giving thing. 🙂

A family friend is marrying us (she is a Reverend) and I hadn’t thought about this yet so I am glad you spurred the brain process! I am thinking probably a gift certificate to a restaurant. Her daughter is one of my BM’s so I will ask her what or where.
