Me! I am an awful cook. I am lucky to be marrying a sous chef. lol
I don't cook either. It's not that I can't, I just hate the time it takes and I REALLY hate the clean-up. Mr.ND likes to cook, so I'm a lucky gal :-)
I am terrible!! Luckily my boyfriend will eat anything. He will NEVER say something I cooked is bad even when I've stopped eating it and I'm begging him to stop! Either he has an iron stomach or he's just very sweet.
I wouldn't say I'm a terrible cook, I just don't like to do it very often. Fortunately, DH absolutely LOVES to cook and finds it a stress reliever after work. He also loves spending weekend days in the kitchen trying out new recipes and he nearly always nails it. I am a very good baker though and also do quite well with cooking oven based meals (i.e. roasts, lasagne etc). DH and I joke around that he's the master of the stove and I'm the master of the oven. It works for us.
Of course I'm a stay at home wife so I should have a hot meal on the table when DH comes home from work, but alas, he's not that lucky. I love to clean though so he comes home to an impeccable house and all of the groceries purchased - he just needs to put them together for our dinner! Not a terrible compromise, right? ;-)
I'm one of the worst...ever.
FI is a huge cook though. His grandfather used to have his own restaurant, so FI knows how to make all the good "Southern" food...that's delicious, but bad for my waist-line. Lol.
I seriously like, never cook. I'll do the clean-up. I'll help prep if he wants me to... Lol.
I'm not a terrible cook i just hate to cook. FI is an amazing cook! Me and my son often ate like college kids. top ramen, oatmeal, and toast and lots of raw veggies lol!
I'm an okay cook but I absolutely HATE it. There are many times when I don't want to cook so much that I just don't eat anything, lol. FI is a great cook and enjoys it most of the time, but I try to help him out by getting the ingredients and supplies together, and helping clean up and serving the food. I feel bad making him do everything if I don't, since he's pretty good about household chores.
don't have a whole lot of experience cooking - so yes, I'm a terrible cook. For that reason I just follow recipes and try to keep things simple. When I do cook, I feel REALLY self-conscious about it. The ironic thing is I can eat something and can dissect pretty quickly seasonings used, how it was cooked, etc. So I have a good sense of ingredients, but don't have great execution.
Ha! I am also a terrible cook. We have a running joke in the house that I only know how to cook things "Cajun Style"...aka BLACKENED! I burn everything. It doesn't matter if I follow a recipe or even turn the burner lower than it says to. It's ALWAYS burnt.
Oddly enough, I can bake like a queen! I make a mad homemade pumpkin pie from scratch and the best chocolate chip cookies you will ever have! ...Yeah, I'm tootin' my own horn on that one! :)
Thankfully, DH is a fantastic cook and he LOVES to do it. He's made it pretty clear that I will never have to lift a finger in kitchen for the rest of my days unless it's too bake dessert. I'm pretty lucky!
Regardless, this is one skill I wish I had!!
in general im not a bad cook. however coming from a mexican\italian family background there are certain things that should be no brainers for me and i just ruin em every. single. time. like mexican rice. fml!!!! no matter how hard i try i cant get it right. its either too crunchy or soo soggy or bland or too salty or something. its never once been right. not even once. I also cant cook albondigas (meatball soup) either. there is a method to this and my gram does it perfectly. my meatballs fall apart because myt iming is off or ill forget to add something and throw everything off. i gave up on those two things.
I am not a terrible cook, I just absolutely hate to cook! Because I hate cooking so much I have always rejected any opportunity to learn how. Thankfully my boyfriend loves to cook and is a great cook! I am so useless in the kitchen if he tells me to watch something that is cooking I freak out, I have no idea what I am watching for, how do I know when it's done, or if it's over done. I will sometimes help by cutting things up for him. But I am SO lucky he is a good cook and likes to do it, I have zero interest in learning.
I'm actually a good cook but I wanted to share a recipe with you for the perfect pan-fried steak.
Get 2 really good, 3/4"-1" steaks like New York Strips or Ribeyes. Salt and pepper both sides of them.
Put your frying pan on medium high for about 2 minutes to preheat. Melt a small pat of butter in the pan.
Put the steaks down in the pan and cook them for 3 minutes on the first side, 4 minutes on the 2nd side, then 3 minutes on the first side again. Let the steaks rest on a plate 5 minutes before serving.
That's it! Don't shake the pan, don't do anything fancy, they'll turn out perfect every time. If they're really thick, you might want to cover the pan for the last 2 minutes of cooking. These take so little effort, I make my salad and nuke some baking potatoes while they are cooking.

It's a good thing FI likes to cook because I hate it. I haven't cooked since I started dating FI 3 years ago, and it shows.
He works night shifts, and I just cooked myself dinner. ... I'm really more of a baker....
Here's to hoping he can make it taste like food when he gets home. I can't even finish a small bowl of this slop. *face palm*
Anyone else not a cook?
