I wouldn’t pay more than $35-$40 for a queen sized set (bottom & top sheet +2 pillow cases), and it would have to be high count or t-shirt/jersey material of good quality.  But then I only buy when they are on a good sale.

We bought a couple t-shirt/jersey style sets at Wal-Mart for $20 on sale back in October with the gift card my work gave us.  We were surprised by the quality, since I’ve bought bedding at Walmart before without checking the quality and been severely disappointed.

Soft bedding is great in the winter, though we tend to use regular sheets in the summer becuase DH is a heater and we don’t want to pay for the AC cost!  But even the regular sheets we have are soft but cheap since I got them on sale before we met.

lol, that’s what wedding registries are for. we registered and got two nice (but not luxurious… i wish!) sets of $200 each, and we bought two cheaper target sets (but they are still %100 cotton) for when we get lazy with laundry and the nice ones are not available.

but as soon as I can spend some money in that I’ll get truly nice bedding. In my opinion, is totally worth it. I’m miserable when sheets are synthetic material.

It’s just not in the cards for me to spend $200+ on nice linens right now, as much as I’d love to. I tend to use 20% off coupons from Bed Bath and Beyond for 400 thread count sets that run about $60.

I love sheets more than anything, but there are lots of great deals to be found.  Do you have a Homegoods nearby?

I’ve always found great buys in the US. Much more reasonable prices than here in Canada. Better selection too.

Homegood/winners/marshalls/tj maxx. Check them out. I typically buy queen sheet sets anywhere from $40-60 for a set. Make sure the thread count is high~ish (don’t get crazy; nobody feels a huge difference after a 500 thread count, anyway), and if there is a choice for egyptian cotton, go for it!

I definitely NEED soft bedding. The difference between polyester sheets and egyptian cotton is stark, and once you go luxury, you can never go back- not that I would ever want to! Sleeping on good bedding just makes life THAT much more pleasant.

Oh gosh, GOOD Bedding is worth the world !!

We all seem to forget that we spend 1/3 of our lives (assuming on ave. 8 Hours per day) in bed.

8 x 7 = 56 Hours a Week

56 x 52 = 2,912 Hours a Year

However, people b!tch about the cost of a set of sheets, but spend 2 or 3 times as much on “an outfit” that they may wear for even less hours in a day

Add in the fact that there are 2 of you in the bed… and that if well taken care of bedding can last 5, 10, 15 or more years… when has that happened with a pair of jeans for example?

(In my first Marriage we had a couple of sets of QUALITY sheets that we got when we got married as Wedding Presents, they were still going strong at 20+ years… maybe a bit faded, out of fashion color wise etc… but uber silky soft. Wonderful to sleep on)

I am one who strongly believes that good bedding is worth every dime !!

Hope this helps,

PS… Best advice… Shop the Sales !!  Bedding has a cycle… January and Summer (Wedding Season) is when prices are at their best.

I had to switch to quite soft bedding because my old stuff (which wasn’t that bad) was affecting a skin condition.

Jersey is soft and can be found a more reasonable prices, but it isn’t as nice feeling as my more expensive set of sheets.

I LOVE good bedding!  So worth the price and so nice to sleep in.  PP was right that once you sleep in a set of really good sheets the cheap stuff will not do.

I love Hotel Collection from Macy’s and Oprah actually put them on her favorite things list.  The sets are ridiculous but we bought one last year for $50 on Black Friday.  They even sold them that cheap online.  Well worth it.  I will buy another set this year.  The cheap set from Target(organic bamboo) just sits in the closet and only is used for emergencies.

On a sorta related note, I sold mattresses while I was in university. It would amaze me how many people were willing to cheap out on mattresses. I was like “you sleep a third of your life! Invest in a good night’s sleep!!”.
