I don't know what's going on this year but I can not wait for Christmas. I mean, it is my favorite holiday, but this year I really can't wait. I will be strong and not decorate until after Thanksgiving (a personal rule I feel I must follow) but this will probably be the first year I decorate on Black Friday. My fiance even agreed to help decorate this year!!! I can't wait only and week and a half left!

What about you guys? Has anyone already broken down and busted out the holiday cheer?

I USED to get outrageously excited about the holidays, until my daughter and only child died eight years ago. It wasn't until 2 years ago I started putting a tree up again. Last year was nice, very mellow, with my beloved. I will settle for that now.

Can I confide in you all that I hate the holidays?  I know it's weird, but true.

I love thanksgiving for the food and low expectations, but I feel that Christmas and New Years get so built up and then are always a let down.  I do enjoy me some Hannukkah if I get a chance to celebrate.

@ Mrs. DG- Me too. I hate Christmas.

Despite that, I'm excited for this x-mas. FI gets 2 weeks of leave to come home and we're taking our e-pics!

My favorite part of the holidays is baking Christmas cookies and candy! It's my mother's and my holiday tradition.

I love Christmas. It is my favorite holiday of the year. :) But I don't have a tree. I go home every year for christmas and my mother has a fabulous tree. :D

I think this year is the first year I am so excited I can barely hold it in. I have already broken out the Christmas music and Thanksgiving isn't until next week! Perhaps it's because last Christmas I was duped into thinking a ring wouldn't come, but it did! Christmas Eve this year will be our 1 year engagement anniversary and then next Christmas will be our first as husband and wife! :) I know nothing could top last Christmas with our engagement, but I am just so happy this year to be celebrating... well... everything! I am a huge fan of Christmas in general (my bio-mom wouldn't let us decorate when I was a child, long story) so I decorate simply but zestfully as an adult! :) I am hoping FI will be ok with helping me put up the tree early this year (although we may be moving right before the holiday so we may not have a tree up and such, I dunno). Bella loves her some CHRISTMAS! :)

The best part, I have to admit... is the gifts. It's not the receiving of gifts that I enjoy the most (although I do appreciate them), but the buying and giving of gifts. We are really trying to think of great ones this year (instead of so many gosh darn gift cards - I have been noseying around FMIL and found out what she wants!). I just, I get so much happiness and joy out of watching others open our gifts, that we know they will enjoy. OK, and I'll admit another thing. I love it when I wrap up our pugs' Christmas gifts and then help them open them. They are always so surprised :)

I am extremely excited about Christmas this year!  I think the best part is that my son is now a the the age he wants to open presents and look at christmas lights...He still does not care for Santa but he just LOVES Christmas trees, lights, and its just so exciting. I am also really excited that I will get to spend this Christmas with my fiance...He will be coming over early Christmas morning and spending the entire day with us...I just can't wait :)

I'm really excited for it this year! Previous years have been fairly meh, but I'm so excited for this one because it's my first one with FI. This has been the best year of my life, and I feel like celebrating!

I'm not really a fan of most holidays during the year, and I don't make a big deal about my birthday.

But I'm a total Christmas sucker. I decorate the whole house like I'm freakkin Buddy the Elf. Our tree has been up since the Sunday after Thanksgiving, the outside was decorated soon after and I'm all about ABCFamily and all the christmas movies that've been on.

I wish I was as on top of shopping as I am decorating. FI and I haven't even started shopping yet. Yikes!

I am excited for New Year's Eve! :D I was excited for christmas, but my sister keeps being a giant B****. About the only thing I'm looking forward to now is how excited my FI will be over his presents (he is going to LOVE them!) and opening my present from him (a Wii with Wii Fit Plus!!).

On NYE we're throwing a bash both for the changing of the year AND as a bachelor party for a very good friend of mine. When he told me none of his male friends stepped forward to throw him a bachelor party, I was shocked! How terrible! Since I am missing a ton of normal engagement things due to lack of support or interest, I felt it was my duty to make sure he doesn't miss the fun of a bachelor party! I am hyper excited to have everyone over, drink til we're silly, blow the noise makers I bought, wear stupid hats, and "haze" my soon to be married friend (all in good fun!). I like that I'm bucking tradition (a women throwing a BACHELOR party?! A Mixed gendered Bachelor party?! In a home?! With NO strippers?! Shocking! Just shocking!) to give my friend a warm, happy, love filled memory.

I'm not very into Christmas this year.  We aren't going anywhere for the holiday and since I can't drive this whole week, it means we aren't going to have any presents this year either!

the only reason im super excited this year is because it's the first year in maybe 3 years that i don't have to work the week between christmas and new years!! i so desperately need the time off, and i can't wait to sit around and do nothing (and maybe go to a few museums and go to the spa)!! woooo!

Tbh, it doesn't even feel Christmas-y this year at all for me.  Even the trip we are taking tomorrow to go home to see my family for 10 days doesn't excite me.  I think the reason is that my family's too busy dealing some of the stuff this year, and it's contagious!

I'm SUPER excited this year. My FH is going to my parents home (for the first time!!!) and even though we are only going to be able to go for one night (stupid work) I can't wait to see everyone :)

I am also excited for cookies and presents and church and all that good stuff as well...

ONE WEEK AND I'LL BE GETTING READY TO LEAVE FOR HOME :) :) :)

ahhh yes! I am soo excited for Christmas. I have been living in China for the past 6 months and leave to go home on Monday!  Even though my FI and I will be spending Christmas day apart, I fly to him on the 26th!! It is going to be amazing to be together again.  He came here three months ago and proposed :)  YAYYYY for reunions!

Not as excited as usual - first Christmas with FI's family and away from mine. I know we need to split the holidays fairly, but I wish we could just do it all with my family anyway!

@girl: i know exactly what you mean. that discussion has been our hardest.  i just have to trust that we are both on the same page, and wanting to honor each family.  we are all in this together and just know that next holiday it will be with your family :)
