DH and I didn’t. We have 3 children and it’s hard getting them to sit still for any kind of photos especially our son who is autistic. Plus we already have so many photos of them and our world revolves around them, it was nice that it was just us for a change.

I think it would be nice for you to include your daughter in the pic. She could even hold up a sign saying “Mom and dad are getting married” or something like that

Having your daughter in a couple photos sounds great- but those are just family pictures- not really engagement photos. So I would take some pictures with just you and your fiancé as well!

We included our daughter in our engagement pics!  Some of them just look like family shots (which is perfect!) but here are a few that are more “engagement” looking:

+1

We included our dog (who I know isn’t an actual child!) in a few of our photos, but I agree that those are more akin to “family portraits.”  It’s important that you have some with just you and FI

I have to agree with the PP, a few shots with your daughter, but most the pictures should just be you and your FI.  The other ones are just “family photos”.  You are not engaged to your daughter so they wouldn’t be “engagement” pictures if all 3 of you are really in them.

@Jess1483:  aww, thank you!!  I love them!  I wasn’t going to do engagement pictures, but a friend of mine approached me and asked if she could do them.. for free!  Couldn’t pass that up!

Make sure that you don’t just spring this on your photographer (not saying you have), but including a child in an engagement shoot completely changes the dynamic of the shoot and it really becomes a family shoot.  Your photographer may charge differently for this, and it’s a completely different approach.
