ME! I am doing my own makeup so I'll probably practice (I suck), but hair... I trust my stylist. She's always converted my jumbled words into something I love, so I believe she can do it again. ;)
Sometimes brides are busy and don't have time for a trial, or in your case are unable to do a trial.. Don't stress too much about this, because I'm sure you have enough things to worry about already for your wedding! If you've seen your FSIL's work and trust her, I don't think you have anything to worry about. Furthermore, you know she's a stylist so she's not just another family member who hasn't worked on anyone else, and experience working with others will definitely come in handy when she styles you for your wedding. For now, just communicate with her to let her know what you want, like sending photos of your preferred makeup & hair styles, asking her any skin care questions you might have, etc. Don't stress about not doing a trial.. On the rare occasions that I've had brides hire me without a trial, I was able to recreate the look they wanted based on our emails and calls on how their hair and makeup should look. Good luck!
i wasn't going to do a hair trial but my mom and hair stylist/friend talked me into it. actually, they more like said "so when are we scheduling your hair trial?" and i didn't fight it. i'm really not worried about what my hair will look like, like you i trust my stylist, so it's not really a big stressor for that day. i'm not getting a makeup trial though. i'm not worried about that one either.
I am definately going to do a hair/makeup trial.
I want to be able to bounce down on the aisle on my head and have my hair be perfect!
Kinda...We are getting married out of state so I wont be able to get a trial done until we are down there, which will be earlier in the week before our wedding. A trial comes with the package at the stylist I choose, but if I don't like the stylist then it's a little too late to look around for a new one. Kinda nervous about it but I'm sure it will work out. I looked around and read a ton of reviews and trust I made the right decision with the salon.
If you like her work and know what she is capable of I wouldn't worry too much. I'm sure it will all work out!
Well, I think if you trust her style then there's no need for a trial.
For me the only reason I'm doing the trial is to make sure their work is actually good!
If you're confident in that then I see no need for it. Just allow for a little extra time the day of for modifications, etc.

I'm getting married far away from where I live, so I can't do a hair/makeup trial. It definitely makes me nervous, but there's not much I can do about it so I just have to let it go!
I do not think I'll have time for a practice run on hair and make-up either. I think you'll be glowing on your day no matter what, just go for it.
i did have a make up trial and im going for a hair trial too in a few weeks....if you are wearing a veil i think you probably should ask your hair stylist what she would suggest...my hair stylist recommended me to go to the trial with the veil so she can put it on and see if i like the updo with the veil and to see if actually the updo can hold the "weight" of the veil...she told me about some brides she had that show up to the trial without a veil and then on the day of the veil was to heavy for the updo..u probably want to check on that!
My hair/make up guy doesn't do trials at all..lol But I've seen his work NUMEROUS times and I feel in love with it.. so I trust him!!!

My FSIL is a stylist and she's agreed to do my hair and makeup for free for the wedding. Yay!
The problem: she lives in Ohio and probably will be getting into town the day before the wedding. So there probably won't be time for a trial.
She's good, I've seen her do hair before, and I trust her style. But am I foolish for not getting my hair done by someone who can do a trial? I'm most likely going to wear my hair down in loose waves so there won't be any complicated updo or anything like that.
What do you think? Is anyone else forgoing the trials?
