We are, we’re not trying not preventing, I think on here they call it NTNT, not trying not to conceive.   We got married in April and we’re just leaving it to chance πŸ™‚ last month was our first month that we “pulled the goalie” and I didn’t get pregnant.

I like the idea of it, but the reality for me is, it would stress me out too much not knowing. I’m temping right now and TTA, so I will probably continue temping when TTC. That way, I’ll know when I ovulated and when to expect my period (therefore, when to test). I just get too crazy not knowing and get super paranoid about if I shouldn’t be drinking this, or taking that med.

BUT, my husband would rather take it your way, so I won’t mention to much of it to him. I’ll just jump him when I know the time is right.

We decided to just see what happened….and a baby happened the first month! We didn’t want all the stress of charting too much, at least for a few months. I had a vague idea of when I was ovulating because I keep track of my periods on my phone but that was it!

@Mrs.Jansen:  This is the way I’d go. People get too neurotic about it, and get disappointed, stressed, volitile when their efforts don’t pan out with all the bells and whistles. So, if a few months elapse either way, why treat it like a job? Too much.

@Mrs.Jansen:  Well, if you are only tracking your period, that doesn’t exactly mean you know when you ovulate– for example, you could ovulate a little early and have a longer luteal phase (this month I ovulated on day 12, but didn’t get my period until day 29). But, as long as you are generous with the fertile window, you should still catch it anyway πŸ™‚

But now I’m just getting technical because I think it’s really cool. Sorry!

@Mrs.Jansen:  I used period tracker and fertility friend to track my periods only – not temping or charting really. Based on a normal cycle it will “guess” when you ovulate – its strictly a guess since there is so much more that goes into actually calculating ovulation and fertile days but we had a little slip up on one the exact day of my “guessed” ovulation and i got pregnant. Maybe that is a route you could take? that way you are just like ok…i got my period on the 1st so i’ll probably ovulate around the 12 ,13, 14 and just go crazy on those days. πŸ™‚ enjoy all the days in between though too! those little guys can live in you for quite a while πŸ˜‰

If it gets to the point where NTNT doesn’t result in anything thats when you can take a deeper look into when you actually ovulate. but at least this way you won’t stress too much and just enjoy it.

I didn’t chart, but I knew when abouts in the month I was ovulating so I just made sure we were BDing around that time. It felt organic and natural to me. No temping, no OPKs. Took us 5 months to get pregnant, which I think was quick since many people take 6 months to a year or more to get pregnant.

Hubby and I originally planned to start in December, but we’ve moved it up to September or so  because I’m going nuts :p Anways, we are planning on doing exactly what you are, OP, which is just have fun with it! Going off BC in August, then lotsa sex! πŸ˜€ If in a few months, no baby, then I will start charting, temp taking, etc etc, but I am such a stressful person by nature that I wanted the initial attempts to be as low-key as possible. I hope it works! πŸ™‚

This is pretty much what we started this month. We want to get pregnant, but I don’t want to do the temping charting. I use an app on my phone and it predicts when I would be ovulating and my fertile days. So I’ve just made sure this week there has been lots of BD’ing. DH is onto me though, after two days in a row of me initiating, but he is ok with it.

If after half a year nothing has happened then we’ll take another look at things and I’ll probably give charting a try. But for now we’ll just have fun.

When we decide to start trying for a baby, this is probably what we’ll do – just go off the pill. Though we’ll be in our mid/late 20s, so I don’t know if it will make a difference. I just can’t be bothered with charting, etc. before we even TRY without doing all that first, especially since we have no known issues. Ya know?
