I’m looking in to the option of wearing a silk chiffon veil rather than a tulle one. My dress is beaded chiffon, and I bought an extra 2 metres of fabric when I ordered, originally thinking to use it as a wrap or to make a little bolero out of it.
However, we’ve since found a matching beaded jacket that will work even better. So now I have 2 metres of the silk chiffon that matches my gown, and I’m thinking of turning it in to a veil.
I like the heavy draped feel of the chiffon, and the silky opacity of it. I was originally looking at silk tulle for that exact reason.
I haven’t found *that* many pictures of it online, and I’m wondering if that’s because its a bit dated nowadays? It has quite a different feel and I’m not sure if its worth risk. I would probably have it straight edged and waltz/ankle length, tucked under a low chignon with this hair clip that I already own tucked in the side:
For reference, this is my dress. The top layer of the dress is how opaque the veil would be:
Your thoughts? I’m perfectly ok with hearing ‘oh no don’t do it’, by the way!
Here are some pics of other brides wearing a chiffon veil, so you get an idea of what I’m going for:
