@weddingbee098:  No experience, but maybe you can put white tissue paper around the dress? or a loose plastic garment bag inside the black one (open at the bottom, so fabric can breathe)

The dress will probably have plastic around it before being put in garment bag – mine did at least.

@weddingbee098:  The garmet bag that my bridal store put my dress in is actually hot pink and have not had any issues with it rubbing off at all on my dress.

@weddingbee098:  Mine hasn’t been stored for quite a year, but my garment bag is black. I just left the plastic the bridal salon put it in on it while it was in there. No problems yet.

@weddingbee098:

My dress came in a pink garment bag and it was in and out of that bag for about 6 months before the wedding. I didn’t notice any problem with staining. Your dress should come in some sort of wrapping, but if it doesn’t, perhaps you could go to your dry cleaners and ask if they could give you one of their disposable plastic covers to put between your garment bag and the dress.

I think any garment bag that would rub off on an article of clothing is a terrible garment bag.  I’m sure it’s colorfast.  Store a white tshirt inside first if you need to be certain, but that sounds awfully unlikely to me.

@weddingbee098:

The pink bag I got from the salon was a breathable sort of material, not plastic. If your garment bag isn’t breathable, maybe you can leave the zip open?

@weddingbee098:  The bottom of the plastic is open, but the garment bag itself is made of a pretty breatheable fabric. I got it from a friend and I’m not sure where she got it.

@weddingbee098:  Mine was in there for about 5 months – so not too long, but no issues!
