@ally29:  I’d have to see a picture before giving you an honest opinion. Depending on the particular color and setup they can either look pretty or tacky at a wedding.

@Aquaria:  +1. I’m trying to picture it but I can’t. Do you have a picture?

The only balloons I  don’t find out of place at adult partys are the 36″ round  ones. For example:

I am allergic to latex and I hate balloons. I am not the best person to ask, lol.

I think balloons are a really cute idea. I love the pics posted above, the right way and wrong way to decorate with balloons. I have seen a few very cute pictures with balloons.

Do you have to have balloons? Can you use trees and candles??

And for the altar backdrop, streamers or paper cranes

I don’t know how I feel about this. The yacht I’m chartering offers balloon decor for free and it doesn’t bother me in the least. But from years of everyone I know insisting “OMG OMG balloons are sooo tacky!” I guess I won’t be doing them. That said, I’m not hiring an event designer for the reception (only the ceremony) and I’m allergic to flowers, so I guess my reception will be  decor-free? Hopefully the cake is pretty enough on its own to do the trick, lol

I agree with PP – it can be done tastefully, and carefully.
