We are going to have our Destination Wedding in Phuket & the area where we are having our ceremony is in a more remote location of Phuket with just a few resorts on a remote beach. We thought we would start off in Phuket in another area closer to markets, another busier beach near a small town & the accomodation will be cheaper as there is more choice on that beach. So would have a welcome party or welcome drinks at the cheaper hotel & unwind & a couple of days later (1 day before wedding) move to the dearer more remote location. So guests who arive just before the wedding can go to the dearer accomodation straight away. BUT is this going to be too much of a pain for guests to move hotels & too much for them to organise 2 lots of accomodation? I will reccomend a varity of hotels in each area. I just wanted people to experience different parts of the Island & also going to the markets from the dearer resort would be quite far.

I did just this the last time we attended a destination wedding. Darling Husband and I came in a week prior to the wedding and stayed four days at a hotel of our choosing for a little romantic time. Then when the bride and groom and the rest of the guests started to arrive about two days before the wedding we moved to the group hotel to hang out with everybody. I thought it was a nice mix.

Firstly, your wedding sounds blissful! How lucky for your guests to get to experience a wedding in such a beautiful place!
Secondly, I think the fact that you have thought about keeping costs low is a nice gesture that your guests would appreciate! You can always tell them that there are two options, the mix-it-up option, which is what you will be doing, or the stay-in-one-place option, for those who don’t mind spending more to stay in one location. That way they have a choice.

@SapphireSun: thats great to know. hopefully our guests will do the same.
@spicyrutabaga: Thank so much. I know my guests have a wide range of budgets, luckily the standard of accomodation in Phuket is usually quite good for a reasonable price. Good idea to name them ‘mix it up’ option or ‘stay in one’ place option

I definately think it will be good for your guests to see different areas. For our wedding we stayed 3 days in Bangkok, 3 days in Phuket and then 3 days in Krabi. The travel is a pain, but was well worth it. And to be honest, the funny things that happened along the way made the trip if people travel in groups. I think it is totally doable from one side of phuket to another, and I think people appreciate staying in the different areas.
