What's suppposed to be bad luck?  Having it in Jan. or changing the date?

Either way, I've never heard of any such thing.  I say go for what you want...there's no bad luck!

Never heard of it being bad luck either. Moving it up is generally a good thing and people move weddings all the time. You should have the wedding that you desire and if it's in the winter I say go for it!

i've never heard of it being bad luck. we had to change our date, things happen, important people (like the officiant) couldn't make it. it's not a big deal, as long as the invites aren't out yet.

I'm sure its not.. al lot of us start telling people an idea of when it will be, but then once u find your venue a lot of times it changes anyway. so i wouldnt worry, go with what makes you happy!!

I've never heard of that either. Plenty of people change the date for plenty of reasons -- go for it and have your dream winter wedding!

    Never heard of that.

Maybe your friends are jealous you're getting married?

I've never heard that moving up your date was bad luck.  In this day in age, you have to realize life is short and you need to make you and your FI happy.

That's the most bizarre thing I've ever heard. Why do people keep telling brides that everything is bad luck?

The only thing that is bad luck is if you marry the wrong person. Sheesh.

Never heard that! But would it matter to you if it was?

I'd do it! The sooner you do it the quicker you are married to the man of your dreams :-)

According to snopes, there is a superstition about changing the date of the wedding:

    http://www.snopes.com/weddings/customs/date.asp

I don't think those old things hold much stock.  According to them, weddings on Saturday are unlucky too but not everyone who has a Saturday wedding is unlucky!
